I started talking to a lady at a charger today and she mentioned she's using Zoom EV and got 1 month free Osprey charging for signing up. I never heard of them. For me I don't see much benefit as I'm only interested in cheaper public charging but if you're new to EVs (like she is) maybe there's...
I think I've seen maybe 5 in the last 8-9 months
I've seen more Tesla taxis than MG5s
I see a fair few ZS around but only very rarely the EV model
I was just thinking exactly the same. They were slightly breakeven when I joined but now they are considerably cheaper than the chargers around me, plus they keep giving away discount codes. This can't be sustainable.
I wish the session timer would count down instead of up. Counting up doesn't really tell me anything. The osprey app tells me the battery % as well as the amount of time left - Bonnet really should be the same I think.
I just got back from Dublin and found your post very helpful. I saw a few MG5s around - all taxis - and a fair few EVs in general.
I signed up with ecars and easygo but only used easygo once as all the other chargers I came across were ecars. You're right there are many chagers on the map but...
I've used Bonnet a couple of times instead of using Osprey directly. With Osprey I can see how much time is left on the charge. With Bonnet the timer just goes up - until I get a finished notification. No idea if its got 10 minutes or 50 minutes left. Not ideal if you want to charge but walk off...
Thanks - very helpful!
I saw Irish Ferries offer the option to charge during the journey (I can only imagine the prices 💸) which was unexpected but a nice option. Looks like EV adoption is growing in the UK and Ireland
Thinking about taking the MG5 to Ireland for a week's visit. I've seen a decent amount of chargers on Google maps. I'm wondering what the experience is like on the ground. Chargers work well? Do I need a few dozen apps just to start a charge?
I've got the official MG spare. I'm not keen on adding unnecessary weight but it just feels safer. It's a nice bonus the MG5 has the space for a spare.
There's a fair few sets of portable battery kits like this one on Aliexpress. Not as specialised but seems like it servers similar function. Is there a difference?
BLUETTI AC300, B300 Power Station Combo, Up To 24.6kWh, Modular PowerStation, SOLAR GENERATOR KIT, AX OUT AT 3000W
I've just moved all the breakdown stuff from the old ICE car into the MG5. I'm wondering If there are any EV specific things I should be carrying / don't ever need again?
I've got a pair of jumper cables and a jump starter battery pack (worked really well on the old car a few times) - are...
Mostly in and around the Cardiff area I see quite a few Teslas and one or two Leafs (Leaves?) but also much more variety from the other manufacturers. However I've only seen one MG5 (just once) and I see one EV ZS occasionally. Where are all the MGs? Decent range, decent price and one of the few...
I can't imagine going back to a manual car ever again but for the next few years (at least) if I want to rent a car either in the UK or abroad the chances are that I'll end up with ICE car. Therefore it's probably worth learning manual purely to make life simpler. But for my kids who will be...
I think consumers still have range anxiety despite the improvements in battery tech over the years.
Also many many people don't have the option of home charging so more public chargers (both locations and physical charger machines) is still an issue before more people will consider evs.
Shame...
Also from the comments on the video on YT:
Viewers can get their first monthly refill pack, worth up to £50, for free by downloading the Bonnet app and using this voucher code: FULLYCHARGED.
Their payg rate of 35p is cheaper than the 40p that Osprey is charging directly but more than 30p electocity are charging so having a single app is much needed but not necessarily cheaper.
Used Gridserve at service stops a few times. I they are my preferred network.
They have screens so I don't need an app just to start the charge.
They charge 30p which has (unfortunately) become cheap.
Good customer service. After a series of unforunte events I was down to 10% battery and...
Nice idea in theory but I'm against it because the MG5 doesn't support it 😂
We can't even get the potholes fixed, I don't see all the roads being electrified happening any time soon!
