    MG5 Confused over update versions

Picked up my new facelift MG5 Trophy today. Fantastic price for a car that has been sitting in a field since 2022 (I guess). Thanks for the pickup checklists that some of you posted, they came in really handy as: 1) the rear numberplate will be re-done by the dealer 2) front door water exits...
  2. LED interior lights

I thought this would be an easy task, take one out and pop the LED in. How wrong was I... The plastics are so tightly held and the fear of breaking something! The rear lights were simple. I took the grab handles down and carfully popped the covers off. The front was a whole nother level. I...

Just seen the new VW ID7 Estate, is it just me...

...or have they been copying?! Just look at that body line under the windows and the frontal styling. And as for the interior...

Spilled coffee over the central console MG5LR

What a mess, cup of coffee slipped form my hand and spilled over the central console. There was no sugar, a small mercy, but the residue has impacted the kers switch and the sport/normal/eco switch. It seems sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. Everything else seems ok. I’ve tried to...
  5. Zero Car Tax to £195/Yr.

Has anyone heard about this new move by the Labour monkeys... DVLA Update 28/11/2024 VED £195.00 For all vehicles registered between 2017 to 2025

    Butt pain mg5 trophy

Had the mg5 for about 2 months and find the leather seat rather hard and difficult to get comfortable in. My left butt gets a dull pain from driving for >30 mins. Does anyone else experience the same problem?

    A couple more newbie questions

Had my new MG5 SE for a week now, taking it easy on local roads, only done about 100 miles so far. Generally happy, but very disappointed with the speed limit indicator. In various hire cars I have used over the past 2-3 years, these have been reasonably accurate, presumably using mapped data to...

    Door seals

I bought my MG5 SW EV 2.5 years ago and I'm broadly satisfied with the car. I've done less than 11.000 miles, so was disappointed to see how badly the door seals have deteriorated. I was even more disappointed when I rang the MG Dealer who supplied the car and he told me door seals were only...

    Tyre pressure

So had my 2nd service and each time it goes in they put the tyre pressure to 2.5. I forgot to check this before I left. On the door frame it’s says the pressure should be 2.2 Is it written somewhere else that it should be 2.5?

Does the Pre-face lift 16" wheels fit the Face Lift model ? reason l'm asking, is l have a set of 16" Exclusive wheels with winter tyres fitted, and l'm hoping they will fit straight onto new car, ready for all the coming {global-warming} blizzards.

    More Newbie Questions

Hi everyone. I picked up my new 2024 MG5 last week. Just a couple of questions someone may know the answers to. Does the car have courtesy lights? When I open the doors no lights come on. Also, does the boot switch on the keyfob do anything. I have tried pressing it but the boot doesn't...

Free, blank thingy that goes under the rear plate. :)

I've got my new car, woohoo! So I've got the plastic hole cover trim available that sits under a standard UK plate, free to whoever might want it including the screws, in case yours is damaged or missing. You'll just need to pay for your choice of postage, fast or slow. PM me if you want...

    Steel spare wheel bolt length

Do the alloy wheel bolts work ok with a steel spare? Looking into space saver. VW group kits much cheaper than MG but obviously need radius bolts. Would anyone have the thread lengths please, M12x1.5.

    Boot reopening after closing

Hi all, I recently purchased an mg5 ev. Locks all worked OK originally. Now if car locked, I can open boot with boot button, but if I attempt to close it, it closes, I hear the lock engage, then it immediately unlocks again and boot opens. If I unlock the car, the boot will then lock correctly...

    Scheduled charging

Despite owning our 5 over 3 years I've never done a scheduled charge overnight, with solar panels and low annual mileage it's not been necessary. So a sort of beginners question: We have an older SyncEV charger which has optional pulse charging or 'stay awake'. Do I need either of these? Or will...

    Another problem again

So after all the issues Ive had now my heating system has packed up in my 2021 mg5 just blowing out freezing cold air. Was towed in to the garage Friday afternoon so I could activate the hire car from mg assistance due to not been able to de steam the windows correctly Upon speaking to the...

So what range were you getting in recent cold weather?

My first winter weather with an EV and full charge range on my 24 facelift dropped to 180 miles. Just wondering if this was average for MG’s in cold weather? Admittedly the car lives outside and I am in North Wales.

    New owner questions

Hello all, yesterday I collected my new MG5 SE , and after driving just a few miles so far I have a couple of questions. I could ask the dealer of course, but I thought I'd like to join a forum for future use. So, question 1: if I drive over 30mph , even in a 40 mph zone that the car has...
