1st Service Charges

I have my first service on Friday and just received the email details and check in details
1st service charge £177

What surprised me was the optional extra of software update costing £198
It does not say what software but just presume it's the infotainment software as I presume any system updates would be done.

Are there are recalls as on my details it stated 1st service (No recalls)

Anything which is referenced SC by MG is a Service Campaign ... a software update to be implemented when a car is presented for service. This is warranty work which MG pays for, so a dealer also charging for software updates is pure profiteering.

A recall is covered under RC - Recall Campaign. There has only been one such RC for the MG4 ... RC008 which resolved the "locked in" issue. I got RC008 in January 2023, so any car supplied since 2023 should have had that issue sorted at PDI.

Put your details into еQuote, and you may be suprised with the results - it should be around £120

Last week first and third service were £114 on the MG service plan plus about £1.80 per month management charge.

It works out much cheaper with a service plan and also covers you against any future price increases so worth doing IMHO.

It all went well and they updated SC0077, took about 1 hour

It did feel a little different on the way home with no lane twitching
