Hey all new here

2 days away from MG5 purchase, annoyingly I was gonna post the car page here but since confirming intention to purchase it’s been removed from dealer page so here’s something similar

The one I intend to purchase is approx 45k miles, plenty of tyre tread, 96% battery capacity. Is there anything else I need to be informed on?

First EV and we love the space it offers now we have 2 kids and drives great but taking a step into the unknown is always daunting and this seems like the best place to be clued up on what im buying, rookie mistakes, software management/updates etc

Any help would be fantastic, especially whilst I still have a couple days to change my mind/look for a better deal

N.B: Heart is not ultimately set on an MG5 as things stand but if I know what I’m looking for and see something I should avoid in this particular vehicle it seems there are a fair few similarly priced options available at other dealers.

Forgot to include - apps for my phone relating to EV/MG EV ownership and any tips with the infotainment or warranty niche tips/things not covered etc

Another edit:

Currently will not be home charging, tips on how often to charge at public will also be helpful. It will mostly be commute/small journey. Our 15 plate 208 normally does us about a week to a week and half on half tank around 200 miles, wondering if I should make sure to small charge every chance I get

Another another edit:

How to identify and what to identify on whether this vehicle has had necessary updates/works on common issues or things such as being compatible with Tesla chargers etc

Great choice of car.
To see if it has had the Supercharger update download the Tesla app and try it.
If you do a lot of miles then look at the prices of a subscription as the offer a discount and multi networks.

Welcome.... My 2p worth would be to check that it has been serviced correctly to MG's schedule, which is, IIRC, every 12 months or 15,000 miles, whichever is the soonest, with a leniency of only 28 days or 1000 miles.

That will ensure that the vehicle is covered by MG's 7 year warranty. If it hasn't been serviced within those timescales then you will not be covered for items covered under warranty in years 4, 5, 6 and 7

MG's Service T&C's said:
To qualify for the MG 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th year warranty, the vehicle must have a full and accurate service history, in line with MG Motor UK’s recommended servicing plan, using genuine parts and fluids to the correct specifications

Edited to add: If the vehicle has not been serviced within those time/mileages, you should reflect that in your offer price. Also, don't just take the verbal word of the sales person - do check it out yourself. FYI: This thread was an interesting read...

Great idea to get yourself an EV bargain @Aarontair. Welcome to the club!

It is always best to charge when doing something else.

If you can't charge at home or work then investigate if your council allows the installation of on-street charging (either through a gully to your house or by installing a charger themselves nearby).

Check if any local supermarkets or other amenities offer charging. A Lidl near us introduced a bank of rapid chargers and I believe Sainsbury's are going to start rolling this out. If you go to a gym or kids activity maybe they will have a rapid charger nearby.

It is going to get easier as more and more chargers get installed about the place.

There’s a Tesla Supercharger just off my route to work, if it’s had the update that’s currently my intended stop via leaving a bit earlier on most commutes.

If it’s not I have more options just requires a little more effort/planning

Don't know if you are near Heaton Park but apparently the Sainsburys there has a bank of fast chargers.

Or if there are slow chargers somewhere near your work you could leave the car at and walk in.

Options are proliferating.

It probably hasn't had the Tesla update done and I doubt that you would be able to update it as it is the standard range model. No harm in trying once you get it though.
As others have said, charge the car while you are doing something else. Find a supermarket you like that has a bunch of chargers - our local Sainsburys just installed a dozen or ultra rapid chargers that would fill the car up while you do your weekly shop. You will probably need to find one other regular charging place if you are doing 200 miles a week. A plug socket at work would be ideal.
