2025 HS PHEV Software Versions, Issues and Fixes

software updates - can you download them to a usb drive and then install these yourself or does it have to go to the dealer to do it ? got loads of USB drives etc. just need to know if you can self install or does it really need to go to the dealer ?
I was wondering the same thing

apparently not sadly I have spoken to the local dealer and it can only be done using the machines they have. However as my car is new and has been supplied without the latest once they have the equipment in early August they have offered to do the update FOC.

I’d think software updates on a car under warranty should definitely be FOC!

My Skoda Superb needed various software updates - one to sort the satnav out. I doubt many cars have updates via a USB or that are owner controlled. They seem to have Over The Air minor ones or full blown dealer plug in jobs. It’s the modern way in all cars….

Apologies adeace, I didn't respond to your query regarding my software issues.
It was finger trouble at my end!
When the techie looked at my car he realised straight away that I didn't have MG Pilot on the right setting.
The manual explains four different levels of adaptive cruise control and like another post here I had become frustrated with the car slowing me down a long way behind the car I was approaching. My solution was to change the adaptive cruise control to a gentle warning bong only, leaving me in full control of the brakes, but this had the unwanted side effect of completely blocking the cruise control.
The solution that we came up with was to put the adaptive cruise control in the third of the four settings and then juggling the left hand silver button left or right to keep the required distance from the car in front. Pushing to the left comes up with a 1 and a picture of a car, but it is more than one car length, ideal for 20 or 30mph limits. I then toggle it to the right to 2 for 50mph limits and right again to 3 for 70mph driving. This practice seems to keep my car at the right distance. However, it doesn't have the brain to anticipate anything, so if you see brake lights come on four cars ahead it is better to react yourself rather than to wait for the car ahead to slow and then for the HS to stand on its nose.

Hello All, new to the forum having collected my new PHEV Trophy on Saturday. Two issues from new - blind spot warning sensors not operating, and likewise the lane departure warning system (presumably they share sensors/components). Trying to book it onto the service department of the dealership, but getting someone to answer the phone is proving to be a frustrating process....

Anyway, I'm assuming it might be another software glitch. The car, despite being brand new, is running with vR55. In saying that, I'm not seeing anything on here to suggest that the issues I'm having are typical. Hopefully get it sorted on way or another and will report back with the outcome.

I presume you've been through the various setting menus to switch them on? You probably have but there are some well hidden settings in the various menus!

Aye, I did that and the salesman also went through it in the car. There are a couple of warning lights on the dash (very small, in the far right) that indicate an issue.

Barrie saw your message so when driving fast if you set it to 3 does this mean less sensistive i.e. not constantly slowing down at about 50 yards behind, instead it will get closer ? are there any instructions in the manuals etc. about it as cannot see any direct images and explanations ? just seems like in the past I have always had a physical instruction manual with my car which was often easier to look through.

I agree about the paper manual, the online manual appears to be completely silent about how this works. My comments are just based on trial and error, and may be completely wrong distracted as I am by the bings and bongs of the car telling me to pay attention to the road instead of trying to interpret MG Pilot.
Now that I am becoming more familiar with the cruise control I intend to do some more experimentation with the three distance settings to see how they affect the braking actions.
My initial feeling is that the car will always get a little to close for my liking and I am preferring to cancel cruise control so that regen braking is used to gently slow the car rather than the disc brakes when the car gets closer.
Watch this space.

Update on my blind-spot/lane departure warning sensor fault.... (brand new 25 plate)

I took it onto the dealership as planned. They had the car for the day, took the rear bumper off, ran all the diagnostic checks, etc. They could establish that there is a fault - yes, hence why I booked it in! - but not what it is. Absolutely no clue. They have referred it to MG and I await an update.

These things happen. First world problems and all that. The frustration I have is that I already have a booking to get a towbar fitted to the car later in the month. I have bookings to take our van away so this relatively minor issue has broader knock-on consequences. I don't want to make any adaptations to the car while this is being investigated for repair.

Seems the dealership have never encountered this particular issue, or heard of it as a glitch with the car. Hopefully MG won't drag their heels in getting it resolved.

Morning all!
I'm very excited to be collecting my HS PHEV tomorrow. I've asked the dealer to ensure that the vehicle's software has the very latest releases installed which they have promised to do. Does anyone have any intel on what release numbers are the latest or can someone point me to where I could find out? TIA
