2025 HS PHEV Software Versions, Issues and Fixes

I got mine last week, first registered on may 2025 . It still has r46. What surprises me is that there are repeated reports that r46 has problems with the star keys. I can assign the keys without any problems. Is it really a software problem for some people, or could it be hardware-related?

So I’ve had the speed limit recognition, adaptive cruise control and star keys stop working. It went in for a day a couple of weeks ago but couldn’t sort it. It got picked up on Monday and by tonight (Wednesday) they still haven’t resolved it. They’ve opened a technical case and tried things but no joy so far. Another day tomorrow for them to chase up the technical team. I’m starting to wonder if the dealer knows what they are doing! I’ve told them it’s getting a bit silly now and they know I’m not happy. If they can’t get it fixed by Friday as I really need the car back I don’t know what to do at that point. I suspect I’d have to start the whole process again as they say that they can’t progress the technical case without the car and they have to open a new case every time.

Has anyone experienced an 'Over The Air' update to their vehicle? Are they are 'pushed' automatically to the vehicle, or do they have to be downloaded? Does the vehicle tell you when you have received one? What kind of features do they update?

They weren't able to resolve the issue - so it's going back in a couple of weeks, and they'll give me a courtesy car whilst they try again, early september.

I had an issue with my blind-spot and lane change assist sensors/system (referenced earlier in the thread). I purchased the car from new so wanted this resolved and expected little push-back. The car was in 3 times with no successful resolution and it was becoming a real headache as I was waiting to get a towbar fitted but obviously couldn't go ahead until the issue was sorted out.

I spoke with the dealership's general manager, and, to be fair, he was very helpful. The same cannot be said for MG UK, unfortunately. They weren't interested. Ultimately, the dealership issued me with a courtesy car that was exactly the same model and spec as mine, so that's fair enough. They told me that I could keep it until the car was fixed, and if that proved to take too long they would replace my car. Within two days, the fault was identified and resolved. It transpires that it wasn't a fault, per se, but an omission. The relevant software module hadn't been uploaded at the factory! It was promptly installed and everything is now working as it should be.

My advice would be to tell them you need a rental until your car is repaired - so no repeated technical cases to raise. My dealer had raised several requests for this with MG but were knocked back so they provided the car themselves. If your dealership can get MG to provide and pay for a car they might be more included to expedite the repair on yours. Meantime, you won't be without a car. Alternatively, ask the dealership to give you a rental as happened for me.

I’m booked back in for the second week of September and they’ve arranged a courtesy car until it is resolved.

Just wonder if anyone has had any joy contacting MG via X/Twitter etc? So many software issues.... They fix one at dealer and another comes out the woodwork

I called and emailed them. They did reply but not with anything particularly helpful.

Depending on warranty status, etc, I would suggest going via the dealership you bought the car from (assuming it was a trade purchase).

I'll do. It again at the real service... I've been twice.. It's such a hassle... Why can't they update OTA line everyone else!

Never had an OTA update.. Always check for. Updates but there never are any

For anyone interested, I received my HS PHEV on Tuesday 29th July and it has firmware R55 on it.
Yes, I got mine in May and it has V55 and I have had no issues with the car at all.....however, I noted that the iSmart app was telling me a load of rubbish i.e. the interior temp was -10 etc etc so after many messages to and from from MG Europe via the iSmart app they asked me to ask my dealer (MG Lincoln) to reset the "T-Box" which they did a couple of weeks ago. I booked for a Saturday morning and they did the reset, however the Technician then showed me his laptop and there were 12 or so outdated software modules within the car. He said they needed to book it in for a day. Yesterday the car went in and everything was updated, he said it took 5h - and the software V is still 55 by the way. I can also say the car is better in so far as the screens are faster and the wireless car play (I use an adapter) is almost instant now. I never had any issues with traffic signs, cruise or anything, and still don't appear to after yesterday.

The only thing they could not do is update the navigation map. I have tried with the USB but just get an error. MG Lincoln said the same thing and promised to get me a solution and call me, and so far I have no reason to doubt them, they have been very helpful. One thing I did read is that the USB needs to be 32Gig so for £6 I have ordered one to satisfy my curiosity.

According to my information, the map material is still version 3rd quarter 2023. Our models use "here" maps. The USB stick update should only apply to older models that use different software.
