HS PHEV
Firstly, unless I was blind yesterday when I asked about having a 2025 HS sub-section - we now have one, so thank you.

There is a thread still lurking as a 2024 HS PHEV towbar question but it might be handy to start a new one here.

This was the previous one:

I see that PCT now (?) say that the detachable towbar is not available for the 2025 HS PHEV.

There was talk of rear bumper clearance potential issues. I'll email PCT and ask.

The PHEV is quoted as being 15mm longer than the petrol version - perhaps it's in the design of the bumper, and there's a loss of 15mm clearance?

I copied that part of your post to the moderators' private forum, and Stuart acted right away. He's also added some text about the 2025 model to the earlier HS forum introductory sticky post.

I'm not sure that we can always expect such prompt action, but it's nice when it happens!

Many thanks, it's much appreciated!

I had a prompt response this morning from my query to PCT Automotive:

'Yes we are aware that the PHEV versions are closer to the bumper than would like, We have re designed the towbar to have 2 mounting positions, One for Petrol and one for PHEV. The towbar has passed test and is now into production for manufacture, We would estimate about 3 weeks away for stock to be available.'

So good news all round it seems to me.

Thank you for both the new section prompt and the towbar info Aerofurb.

Is there any estimate on the cost of the towbar yet? I’m still considering my options for trailer -v- roof rack. I’ve always had a towbar, but the reality is that I don’t use it a whole lot (for instance, I paid £1200 for the official Volvo swing-out option on my XC60 and never used it. I replaced the Volvo after a year of ownership due to engine issues and retirement with a Golf GTE. The towbar on that was £500, and I used it three times.

So, as I say, not entirely sure which way to jump, I like to use a trailer for garden waste to the tip, but it would appear that I’m going that less and less. A roof rack for bikes may be a better and cheaper option.

I have my car from today and I have towing hook, but by the mistake they install me nonremovable, so I am going to see when they have removable to exchange.

We have an hs trophy with a towbar and just returned from a trip of over 2000 miles in the south of France in 35degree plus heat. The car started each day with a full battery ( we charge it by plugging into the caravan) and set the car to hev. It tows beautifully as well as my Santa Fe. Acceleration with the caravan on is excellent for pulling on to motorways or overtaking. Our caravan is a Bailey Phoenix with upgraded weight so weighs around 1200kgs. We travelled between sites on the first day from Santander I was surprised by how many hills we climbed on the way to France towing at around 65mph with the air conditioning on all the time because of the heat and averaged around 32mpg. Our last HS, a 2022 model, had a range of about 125miles before having to put petrol in and this new one was covering about 240 miles. I let the car determine what to do with the power dipping in and out of battery seamlessly and only once going down to 8 miles of battery left but soon it pushed that back to around 20 miles left. The car had no problems on hills. pulling effortlessly. My one problem was keeping the speed to a sensible level as if not on cruise control the car soon pushed the mph closer to 70mph. (A speed i feel is too high however stable the car is ) Going up hill was never a problem, sometimes I was unaware of a climb by how effortlessly the car coped. On the towbar situation when it was first fitted I couldn’t get the caravan hitch on the tow ball as it was too close to the bumper. The firm that fitted the towbar contacted PCT and they changed the detatchable hitch with one with a longer neck. Can I recommend this car for towing, definitely as long as it is matched with a suitable and realistic caravan.
