50% battery drop while parked

Hi, we picked up our new MG ZS Saturday. Monday my wife drove to work ~20 miles, she parked at work with 80% battery left, 7 hours later when she left work the battery was at 30% and by the time she got home it was 20%.
Is this normal? or is it because it's so new.

Oh that's a good call. I'd assume not but can't be 100% on that - the car was definitely "locked" as I checked on the app. I've just checked now and the key position is off. So will see if it happens again today.

One thing to check that the battery heater is turned off?
These are just guesses it's a bit worrying

It certainly isn't normal so something was running that shouldn't be.

Our Trophy LR has been parked up for well over 24 hours now and I have just checked it on the App.
The range was displaying 155 remaining when I parked it up.
When the App refreshed, it is now displaying 151 miles.
So only lost 4 miles over more that 24 hours.
The ambient temperature is lower today, so this may affect the return slightly.
Our previous Gen1 model would lose a small amount of range also when left a few days.

I would have to be at full blast heat, AC and fan, then it only uses 5kW max.
7hours at 5kW = 35kWh.
It wouldn't stay on full heat for long, as the car warms up the heater would cycle on and off and be using less.
If it's a new 2022 ZS SR then theoretically at full blast it could use half the battery I suppose if it was left on pre-heat for 7 hours ?

Thats why I asked about battery heater I think I read it uses 7kwh

oh, it's the standard range, we wanted a long range but there was a long lead time and they had standard in stock. It's really shocked us and now we wonder if we've mad a bad decision. So far today, it's not lost a single % yet so hopefully a one off.

the battery pre-heat? that was off, as we only found it last night when sat waiting at a rapid charger.

Some thing that I noticed on our face lift model only today.
If you have the radio playing and then shut down the car, the radio continues to play and the info unit is still active.
I got out of the car, went around to the boot, got out our shopping bags ( super market run ) closed the doors and I could still see the info unit was still running !.
Pressed the “Lock” button on the fob, instantly the info unit closed down.
I have no idea if it has a “timed out” function that would close it down, if you left it alone ?.
I am sure it must have ????.
On the original Gen1 model, the info unit would close down as soon as you shut down the car.
We live and learn I guess !.
Quick update :-
Just tried it outside the school and the info unit closes down automatically after exactly 10 minutes !.

Whatever it was, today seems much better, 20 mile round trip commute has taken ~12 miles of range out the battery. It's hilly too.

Sounds like it's going into ACC mode when you shut down.
Maybe you have to put your foot on the brake to shut down on the new one ?

Maybe !.
I will give it a go.
It tends to act more like other cars now.
My VW and my wife's Fiat 500 is the same.
If you turn off the engine, the radio will continue to play for about ten minutes, then unless you turn on the ignition again, it will just cut out / close down the radio.
I think this was adopted to prevent people from leaving the radio still turned on and then leave the car.
Returning to find a flat 12 volt battery.
So, a built in timer delay was used to prevent this happening.

This isnt normal and haven't heard of this before - please let us know the outcome when you get to the bottom of it.
