My MG4 Trophy reloads the contents of the USB stick every time I get in the car. Why doesn't it retain it? I have about 600 tracks in folder by artist. Once loaded it seems to work ok, but it 5 minutes to load.

What format are the tracks stored in? I have about 1,600 tracks all stored in .wav format without any issues for my Trophy to access as and when needed.

My directory structure is Artist/Album/Track, so no one directory is too large, with 72 directories at the artist level.

Mine is a similar structure, but 01, 02, 03 .... prefix to each file in MP3 format. Have to set a particular folder or it plays them from all over the USB.

Hi they are MP3 files in folder by artist, then by album. The usb stick is a Sandisk 128GB with about 75GB free space. It's formatted as ExFat.

Artist/Album/Track with tracks in 01..., 02..., 03... format mp3 files used to work for me in the left-hand USB port. 256GB Sandisk with 17,000 tracks would have been impossible without it retaining the stick contents. I have a vague memory that it only worked in the front left-hand USB port.

I have Artist/Album/Track, but no track numbers, just names. It's on a 128GB Sandisk stick, formatted EXFAT. It just won't retain the stick contents.

My USB is in the Right Port.

To be accurate I have a multiport adapter plugged (USB C) and then the flash drive into one slot.

What happens if you remove the multiport adapter and just install the flash drive?

I have no idea if the car can correctly handle more than one device plugged into the USB C port as a multiport device will report itself as a hub device with more or more other devices attached.

Also I'm not sure how much power the USB C port can provide, which could be another problem. If you are looking for a solution that can provide power to other devices, it is best to get something that can be installed into the 12v socket. I use the following (if the link works)

It just works like normal, except I have to use a USB C to A adapter.

It just sees it as another Folder

If I need to charge anything I would use the USB for the Rear Seats. My phone uses the Wireless Charging Deck.

128gb stick, full of mp3, wave, flac
Plays straight away
Scanned first couple of times
USB c stick on a trophy r63

Tbh the stick has them but I couldn't tell you if the car plays them as there's thousands of tracks, I'll try a stick with less files on when I get a chance
