MG4
Just got my MG4 XPower on Friday. There are a few small issues I have noticed.

  1. Driver's door button seems to be intermittent. Have to press a few times to unlock. When I close the door it usually doesn't lock and I have to press the remote. Assuming this is a door switch error, that I can get fixed at the service which is due. If I am making a mistake then I would like to know.
  2. The previous owner used Apple Play but rather than plug in a cable he installed a USB Dongle. He left it in the car for me. I also paired my phone to the MG4 Bluetooth. My phone now connects with both devices, but the Apple Play does not operate unless I disconnect from the MG4. Thinking having both is the problem. Anyone else had a similar issue?
  3. The interior lights start to flicker after being on for about 5 mins. This is a bit annoying. I think they are the original bulbs. Am planning to swap them out for the LED equivalents.
  4. One Pedal Mode seems to turn off each time I drive. This is one where I should not be a lazy git and look it up in the manual.
That is all I can think of at the moment, however I am sure to have more questions soon.

TIA, all help appreciated.

Oh one Forum Question - How does one do the @user in the post?

I can answer that one @Cabansail !
It's literally as you have written, @ followed by the username in question. Once you start typing the username, the software should give you a list of recognised members aligned to the characters you have typed so far.

1. My passenger-side door button doesn't work - or at least it didn't the last time I tried it. I never use that button in normal use though so I'm not that bothered. The driver-side door button was temperamental for a wee while, but recently it has been working fine. 🤷‍♂️

2. I'm sure I've read here that Apple CP doesn't like the phone having a BT connection to the car as well as a CP connection. (Or maybe I'm confusing it with Android Auto, as AA still uses a BT connection for voice calls). My own wireless dongle AA setup works fine, even with a BT connection to the car still being there.

3. Can't say - I've never experienced this. However I did change to LEDs a long time ago.

4. OPD is Off by default - it needs to be turned on every time; the setting is not remembered. Regen level 3 and Normal drive mode are the defaults.

The @user is done simply by typing the @ character and then typing a few characters of the user name, then select the right name from the options shown ... such as @siteguru and @Cabansail :)

I don't let my phone connect through Bluetooth, only through the Apple CP dongle, and that works very consistently. At some point I had it drop connection after a few minutes, but unbinding and re-binding the phone to the dongle fixed that.

Just type @ then start typing the username, and select the username when it pops up in the list.

Further to @siteguru 's comment re OPD I now don't bother enabling OPD any more as I find setting the regen level to 3 and enabling Autohold works just as well for me and those settings are remembered across driving sessions.

The regen 3 braking effect is almost the same as OPD and the Autohold function is really simple to engage when you want it if you've come to a stop.

You just lightly press the brake pedal again after stopping.

You can see when it engages on the main drive screen as the small A will change colour from white to green.

The car will now hold until you press the accelerator and move off.

In your car at a great rate ;)

We had both door buttons replaced under warranty on separate occasions. The replacements have now worked flawlessly for more time than the originals.

My service is only a few weeks away but it will be before the 2 year mark. So it should not make a difference. I assume that certain items will drop out at anniversaries (as the actress said to the bishop)

I had the passenger door handle replaced under warranty, it was hardly used. The driver's side, used all the time, is still going strong on the original. Unfortunately the dealer failed to match the paint exactly when they did the replacement. Slightly irritating.
