Had a strange one with Leo the Goth MG4 today, and I thought I'd share the experience here in case the MG4 hive mind has any ideas.
From the beginning: We were going into the village. I climbed in, and all the usual lights came on, and I put my foot on the brake. I tried putting Leo into reverse, but nothing happened. The Ready light, I am sure, had come on. I took my foot off the brake and tried again. "Ready" came up again, and Leo went into gear. Odd, but possibly my fault.
Then, in the village, we put Leo onto the slow charger, as we've done countless times before. A couple of hours later, we returned. I used the zapper to unlock, I opened the boot, and the alarm went off. We could not see any reason for this. I locked the car again with the zapper, and unlocked and all seemed well. I did not get an alarm email, as I have once before a couple of years ago, so I don't think it was a real alarm.
We then drove off, and a minute or so later, an icon that I have never seen before appeared, without the fearsome bingly-bong of the usual alarms. See attached, taken from the manual. It's what looks like a yellow battery, stacked 3-high, with a yellow exclamation mark through it. Nothing else untoward happened. As it happened, we had to stop again a couple of minutes later. I locked the car and there was a small blip of the hooter, almost like when you leave a door open and try to lock,, but shorter than that.
A few minutes after that, we climbed into the car and drove home, absolutely normally.
So the questions. What on earth happened? And should we really contact our dealer about this as the manual suggests? It seems rather drastic. I'd welcome any comments.
