After reading the owners manual I noticed that it informs me that if I need to connect jump leads for the 12v battery then there is a connection pole in the engine bay fuse box. (Assuming that you can’t get the boot open for access to the battery). See picture below. To gain access to this and the fuses within it you need to remove the fuse box lid, I’ve tried this and it’s impossible to remove it as there are other items preventing its removal. I pointed this out to the dealer and they agreed with me that it’s a design issue. They also said that to do it would require “the removal of an ECU Which is not recommended”.
So, with no access to most of the fuses what do we do if an electrical item needs checking? Are we meant to modify the fuse box so that we’re can get access to the electrical pole without removing the lid, or, should MG be doing something about this. Anyone else noticed this? Have you made a modification?

Today was the handover of my new HS PEHV. I asked the workshop foreman how to jump-start the vehicle in an emergency and asked him to remove the cover from the front fuse box. But even he couldn't do it. He even removed the upper plastic part, but without success. So, in an emergency, if the on-board battery is flat, you can't access the contacts to jump-start the vehicle. Could you use the 12V socket to supply power in an emergency so that you can start the car?

Above is a similar thread about the fusebox in the HS Plug in forum.
If you are agile enough you can lower the back seat and climb into the boot and use the emergency tailgate release. I can see me doing this at 89 yrs old. Looks like a call out to the AA man

After reading your comments I checked my Hybrid+. Impossible to remove the fuse box cover without dismantling the shroud over the top. Zero out of 10 for design. English or Chinese?
Having spent my working life as a design engineer I cringe when I see such poor design and wonder what other surprises are lying in wait. Do we assume a replacement fuse requires a dealer/mechanic visit. Interesting that the manual advises the removal of the negative lead from the battery when opening the fuse box.

Agreed also from a design background. A neighbour of mine had the MG HS ICE version and I had a look at his and he can get his lid off the fuse box. MG have added a few things under the Hybrid + bonnet which prevents removal. I don’t know if there is any mechanism for reporting such things because the MG mechanic at my dealers agreed that it’s a design issue, but do these issues ever get fed back to MG?
