I can see that this is a well documented problem with MG's across the range. I have successfully paired my android with many cars and never had a problem but with my MG4 it will suddenly say random bulls**t instructions like 'turn left and make a u turn and then rejoin the road'. Luckily it has always happened where I can't possibly even think about doing this so I see we live with this but............ what is infuriating is that I set directions in google maps and away we go and it shows how many miles. Whoopee. Go to the home page on infotainment and the quarter section shows some completely random distance in kilometres. Anyone

1. Noticed this
2. Just given up using google maps?

I've been sent round in circles a couple of times with the built in MG4 sat nav over the last 12 months, however I am using it most days so this does increase chances of getting muddled.

The instructions it gave for leaving M25 to join M23 last week was a joke (both ways). It also sent me on a run-around a few weeks ago on the M1 at Duck Manton.

But, overall I find it pretty good, and more than acceptable enough for getting me all over the country.

I absolutely live by Android Google maps. I wouldn't take their advice without cycling it though my grey matter, but I've found it very very good 99% of the time. Honestly, getting that on the car when I'd not had a satnav before was one of the highlights of my life.

I can't see why using the feature on an MG should be any different from any other car. It's your phone that's doing the navigation, not the car. The car is only displaying the information.

The car does not alter the content of Google maps.
I presume you aren't using the built in satnav on a trophy?

Honestly, it's so bloody good that I've taken to hooking it up even when I know quite well where I'm going, because the live traffic information, heads-up about roadworks and so on (and speed traps!) are so good. I've stopped being late, because I check before I set off and can see my arrival time as I drive.

It was quite amazing one day last year when I was driving to Brighton and the M6 was closed in Lancashire due to an accident. Google sent me through a maze of suburban streets, always giving me information about which alternative routes might be a minute or so quicker or slower. It was soon obvious what was going on. The police had set up a diversion route, but that quickly clogged up as it couldn't handle all the motorway traffic. Google was checking on the quickest route for each individual person running Google maps, and the result of its attempts to get each person the best route for them was that all the diverted traffic was distributed across numerous local roads and streets, making best use of all the rat-runs available. Win-win.

I have misread what this thread is all about. I thought you were saying the built in one sends you round in circles (which mine does). I'm using the built in nav, not Android.

I don't bother with the built-in, never have, so can't comment on how good it is. I think the main drawback on built-in nav is that the maps go out of date after a while, whereas the maps on Apple or Google tend to be more up to date. I just run CarPlay (through a wireless dongle) for nav and music, so it's as good as it is on my phone I suppose, nothing to do with the car really.

Cheeky Mr Weckert at it again?

Never had a problem with Google maps via Android auto, and I use it all the time. The only thing I can think of is the car GPS antenna is playing up, I know this was a problem in another MG model.

Surely when you're running Google maps on your phone it's the phone's GPS that's important?

Definitely a car glitch as the same journey in a different car no problem. This morning again had a couple of non sensible instructions. Just have to live with I guess. Lets face it MG are building to a price and newish to the market so stuff like this is bound to be not as refined.

I use google maps with android auto and the only time I had a problem was after looking for charges with ABRP. I hadn't turned ABRP off, just went into maps, and got some really crazy results that sound just like yours.
I assumed some sort of conflict between the two, fighting over the GPS perhaps?
