Annoying "features" when using a tow bar

Not really set up for an aux plate.
Thanks, all good info.

Do you think one could be attached, drill a couple of holes somewhere? The aux plates are smaller than regular plates, 252mm x 98mm. Photos on website look like it could be attached where the Yakima label is.

Yep that should be fine in WA the law is a bit obscure. There are two conflicting rules. If you have a bike rack with no bike on it you must display aux plate. If a bike is on the rack then apparently not required. That said if you block 5he primary plate then you may be in breach. However in all my driving kms across WA (40,000) in the mg4 alone and with police cars behind me they have never pulled me up for not having an aux plate....

Don't try it in NSW, they will issue you a penalty notice if anything is blocking any part of the number plate .... even the single bar type with no bikes on it or if the plate is dirty .... one of the boys we were raising at the time, even got knocked off for the P plate hold being mounted on the number plate screws and with the plate in the holder, it blocked the view of the first letter if you were beside the car to the left and looking at that angle ..... I was willing to go through the whole court process with him, but it involves a min of 3 days lost work, the first to hear how you plea, the second the booking officer never turns up and the third to actually hear the case ...... That was more money lost than the fine, so he just paid it .....

So, i also have a 77kw model.

Starting to think about a trailer hook box, but would not road trip without the ACC. I have the MG original trailer hook, the ball one.

What is the final verict? Does the car auto detect a trailer if i plug in a box? Or, is the electrical plug smart and differs from a bike rackbto a box to a teailer?

I hope to not waste time if you alredy learned that.

So my "trailer" is a bike rack for our two bikes. It slots onto the tow ball and, the moment I plug in the car detects it and removes a load of functions including cruise control. Ona long journey I use ICC ALL the time as it allows me to focus on the driving and not whether I have crepot over the speed limit. I see no obvious way around this.

Well, at least i know now to not even bother with searching for models.

Thanks!

What model/trim is your car? And are you using the same trailer hook as me?
Essence 64. No idea about the trailer hook. Mine was after market:

Now, if that trailer had the same size wheels as the car then there is a ready made spare to cover any eventuality with the six on the ground, and somewhere to carry the jack and wheelbrace. 🤷‍♂️
