Was queueing in the right hand lane of a dual carriageway (approaching roundabout) with the left lane clear, with ACC doing the crawl/stop start, when a large truck came at speed up the inside lane (the type where the whole car rocks when it passes!).

Poor car got quite the scare as it immediately stopped and I could see it had put its hazards on fast flashing for a couple of seconds from the reflection of the car in front of us!

I told it everything was OK, and we were quite safe... It does have a tendency to be quite a sensitive wee soul. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Trophy spec car? That'll have been one of the rear sensing safety systems, e.g. the blind spot detection or rear collision warning. (See page 231 onwards in the Owner's Manual). The hazards flashing are as a warning to the other vehicle to watch what they're doing. :)

Yes it is a Trophy. 👍

Our 51 is scared of cars approaching from the other direction on a bend in the road, freaks the vehicles behind no end  No one tailgates the 51 if they've seen it in action before ;) the first few times it freaked me out as well, then it will hold the 60km/h city speed, right up until it can see how big the eyes get in the rear view mirror of the vehicle in front stopped at the light, then it slows down rapidly, freaking the stopped car, the car behind and the wife in the passenger seat ..... 51 has a real practical joker streak I think ....

I do love the way so many owners think of their cars as sentient!
It's just a little light Friday afternoon personification humour, I wouldn't read too much into it. 😂😂.

Anyway, when the rise of our AI overlords happens, I want them to know I was always polite to the machines. 🤣

Well you have named yours, giving it a personality.

I had a whole thread about this, a couple of years ago. The EV seems more alive to me than any of his predecessors. As you observe, it might be the modern driver assistance aids that give that impression.

He's better behaved than Terry's though.

I was on the M1 this morning going past the Newport Pagnell services, Northbound, using ACC with nothing else in sight and the car suddenly threw the anchors out. I have no idea what it think it saw. Just as well there was nothing tailgating me. I think cars with all these safety/driving aids are more dangerous than they were without them - just in a different way.

Funny how quickly you get to relying on these fancy system to work. Drove the Prius gen 2 yesterday 'cause the MG4 is strapped down on the trailer, I haven't driven it more than the 5 km run to the house block for quite some time.
Had to pick up some gear from the big hardware store, around 35kms each way .... came fairly quickly up behind a slower car and at the last minute, realised the Prius doesn't have the MG4 smarts, jumped on the brakes as I was about to plough into it, and the bloke in the car in front must have thought I'd lost a few marbles or something .... he was probably spot on with that assessment, but not for that particular dumb thing ...... so easy to get lulled into a false sense of security believing the car will do the thinking for you o_O

Yeah, even on a car with one pedal driving, although we all know that the braking effort from regen isn't always going to be available, we still get surprised when the car just shoots on ahead.
