Not pointing any fingers ( :D ), but Mrs S has managed to break off one of lugs that locks in to keep the shelf hinged in place, IYKWIM.

Having looked at the cost of these, both new and second hand, they are very expensive.

Does anyone have any experience of gluing these rigid plastics and which would be the best one to use?

Or am I on a hiding to nothing?

There are 3d printed replacements: MG ZS MG4 SAIC MARVEL parcel shelf clip by infinity2

Don't know how good this works.

I'm not sure it's fully her fault, i blame the design as almost every car i have had you lift the shelf up and pull out, however on the MG it comes out sideways.

Remove the shelf and as said above, use a strong super glue to get the two parts boded together, then to add extra strength either use some hot melt glue, or you could use super glue and add some baking power before it sets, it will set like concrete 👍🤣.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Would NaHCO3 Sodium Bicarbonate be better?

And this sounds really silly, but how do you juggle applying the glue and powder?

Thanks.

Have a quick look on YouTube mate, there are several video demos like this one.

I always use the same, small bit of superglue and a sprinkle of Dr Bechmann Glowhite - also great for broken door mirrors, plastic bumpers (which im currently doing on my T-Roc underskirt).

Well, I dood it.

It isn't a 100% perfectly aligned joint, but it feels rock solid.

I put glue on, held it together, then, as glue oozed out around the joint, I dusted it with Bicarb.

Feels solid as a rock, but the instructions say leave it 24 hours to achieve full hardness (Oooh err, Matron!).

So I'll leave it till Saturday then gingerly install it back in the car.
