Driven my relatives Mégane numerous times and it works better than it looks.
2 normal stalks
One for gear selector, like numerous other EVs
Big button on bottom right is drive modes, works perfect.
Paddles are regen levels up one side down the other.

Stalk for media/radio.

Physical buttons for fan speed, temp, heated seats, steering wheel, rear demister and physical buttons for lka, safety systems.
I agree that I could adapt to a Renault set up, given a bit of time I think anyone could. There are a lot of stalks though.

I really dislike the media/radio stalk being invisible (on some cars) behind the wheel, that seems a senseless choice.
It's a better safer setup than the 4 and my Born, not driven the IMs but they are also touch screen heavy
How is it safer? The simplicity of the 4 is good for me. I don't change regen settings while I drive and it has a really nice layout of on-wheel controls for various functions plus the two traditional stalks, which I find works really well.

I would say it's safer because if you need to change anything whilst driving everything is to hand on a physical button, no menus to access
It is why MG listened to feedback and have moved back to more physical buttons

There are some physical buttons with the MG4 and I adjust the AC via the right hand wheel buttons, media volume and phone pickup and ACC also via buttons on the wheel.

So for me, the only reason I need to touch any screens is CarPlay and I can use voice for that if I choose.

That and the changes to NCAP/EU rules that will require a minimum set of buttons in future.

It's a fair argument but I don't find myself reaching for the centre screen. Maybe that is just me.

As another member said too high expectations lead to massive disappointments.
I have started looking over replacing my Model 3 a year ago now.
Test drove all cars in the SUV EV segment with an upper cap of £60k.
There is no such thing as a perfect car. To give you a few examples:
Model Y. Amazing software; great efficiency, superchargers. Meeh interior, subpar quality for the price.
Sealion 7. Great quality interior, amazing cruiser on the motorway. Lame efficiency, mediocre software, no automations, slow charging, rides like a boat in the city.
ID7. fugly. sorry but it looks like an angry zeppelin. expensive and did not like the ride at all.
Enyaq. meeh looks, did not like the interior, everything is bloody optional...

I did not consider anything from France and Ford are just ridiculously priced.

Huyndai and Kia. Nice cars, good software and very nice ride. One recall after the other; still cars with batteries and BMs dying all over.

I ended up placing an order for the IM6 launch. I found the software easy to use and accommodating to my needs. Nice and plush interior. Quiet and comfy ride. Decent boot space. Efficiency crap? Yes. Do I care; no. 90% of my drive will be home charging. Rest 10% if I have to add one more stop for charging so be it. Fast charging will compensate.
But most importantly. Massive bang for your buck. I cannot think of another car in the segment with this gear, performance and abilities for this price.

Will it have issues? Probably. New model from a new brand. Will it piss me off sometimes? Definitely. Did my Tesla did the same? Oh yes.
Could I have gone for something else all together? Definitely. Almost started contemplating the MG S6 yesterday ;)

But sometimes buying a car doesn't have to be pure logic and chasing the non existing perfection...
Spot on post....
have you considered the Geely Ex5?

Greta reasoning..

Great reasoning Nik, and it's a similar story for me..

I have just had a BMW iX on lease for two years. To be honest, I would have one again, but the price has risen so much, I couldn't justify it..

The iM6 seems to have everything you normally have to pay for as an extra, and is exceptional value for money.

Yes, it would be nice if it were more efficient, but home charging is relatively inexpensive, so it's not a significant issue for me.

The reviews that have been negative, have not swayed me from my decision. I've also considered the Polestar (which I've had before), but they are so overpriced for what they deliver, and after a test drive, I preferred the iM6 to the Polestar 3!

I hope they can resolve the software issues, as that would be a flag not to buy from this manufacturer again..

I'm surprised after all the effort to make this car so technically advanced, that it doesn't have a HUD and a feature where when you approach the car, or walk away from it, it does not operate the locks automatically.

My Renault Scenic E-Tech (which my other half drives), has that feature and believe me, it is very useful!.

My one question, which is important to me..

The sound system? Is it, or can it be made exceptional, by making a few tweaks to the settings?

Well, here's to the new iM6 .. Best of luck to everyone who has joined the experience!

(y) I never liked Volvos either.
I like Polestars but the comparable costs are high.

Tesla model 3 LR rwd £44/45k

IM 5 LR £44/45k

Polestar 2 LR rwd £48k

Polestar is tighter in the back seats and after all this time they never got rid of the big tunnel on the rear floor

Yep, the value for money is exceptional. I really don't know how some manufacturers are going to sustain volume with their high prices.

MG/IM tend to fix things, there have been a lot of updates for the MG4. They aren't always quick to fix, but they do eventually get there. Also they are launching over-the-air updates in the new year (starting with the IM models), which should make it easier to get fixes.

On the HUD, I think that is because this car has been on sale in China for a while now and didn't come with a HUD there. The new MGS6 has one, so I'd expect this to come to IMs at facelift time (if not before).

On the locks, this is fixable in software, so if they want to change it, it could come in an update.

It is certainly worth playing with the settings. It is supposed to be pretty good, albeit not class leading.
