Cannot set up Android Auto or Mg I SMART

Hi just bought a used MG4 EV 2023 and cannot either connect to Android Auto or set up MG I Smart.
I have paired my phone, connected it to the USB port, it is charging so it is connected but I am not receiving any messages neither on my phone or on the car screen. My phone is a Google PIXEL 7 so is running Android system 15 and it tells me that the Android Auto app is connected. Any ideas please?
Also I have set up an MG I Smart account on my phone and again cannot connect. When I try to login with email and password on the car screen, I get a message saying Implementation has failed try again later and if I try to log in by scanning the code, the code does not appear on my car screen, therefore unable to scan. Again any ideas? Thank you!

I have now overcome the AA problem by using a different USB cable and it now works well
but still having the same problem trying to connect to MG I smart. Do you suggest I wait a day or so for the server problems to pass? Thanks again

I just want to reiterate how common this solution is for people with problems connecting Android Auto.

IMHO it's a particularly "common" issue due to MGs choice to make the "data" USB port the USB A one.

Because of this, you need to use a "quality" USB A to USB C cable and too many cheap cables don't implement the data side of the connectivity correctly.

So... For those reading this in the future looking for potential solutions to AA not working, check the cable!

Buy this cheap dongle from Ali Express, it's only £7.21 now but works great (Setup delay to 40 seconds) and you'll get it in a few days from China.
