Car Cleaning and Detailing, could you, would you, should you?

Anyone have suggestion on what to use on that massive glass roof on the MGS6. Something that makes the water drain off even at low speeds. I've tried quite a few products, such as Rain-x, but never been impressed with any of them.

Ours is going in for a full ceramic coating on the 1st of May when we are off visiting foreign climes and the roof will be getting the same coating as the bodywork as it's a fixed panel in effect, when I had the x power coated the water just beaded and ran off when you started to drive.

I went for Carpro Flyby30 on the roof, rear and side windows. Let's see if that is worth the dough. Did not coat the front windshield. In daylight it's OK if it rains, but when it's dark it's horrible with hydrofibic film on the front windshield, as every drop breaks up into hundreds of microscopic droplets, and makes visibility much worse.

Very wise, when it comes to glass with movement ie wipers or opening, needs a specific treatment,

I decided to wash the Honda today, normally I just put it through the auto car wash (it is almost 20 years old and basically our tip car!) . Wheels were grubby but I'd used up the fallout remover so used Surfex and a round brush in a drill, worked a treat. Rinsed the whole car then snow foam (Halfords Advance), remarkably dense foam so I just used a wash mat for a contact wash. Couldn't resist giving it a coat of Yum Foam+ as I had some mixed up, then dried it. It scrubbed up quite well for its age and being black!

Liking the sound of that, got a pic?

Age shall not wither them with a soapy foam. 😇

I'm getting close to going out and paying someone to do mine, now the weather is looking up. I was ashamed to have taken him for his third service yesterday, still in his winter grime.
Oh that’s not what you want to do, there’s something so theraputic in getting down with a lambs wool mitt and soapy suds.

I rub the lotion on its skin and then it gets the hose again…..

Could hardly be worse than Berlingo over the last couple of weeks since its last bath. Today I was ashamed to park it alongside a fifteen year old but reasonably fit looking Land Rover. So as soon as I got home I dedicated half an hour to bringing the machine to an acceptable standard. That waterless stuff is effortless and shifts some pretty horrible muck quite quickly. Just spray a panel, say a door, then the adjacent panel. Go back and polish off the first panel. Spray over a third panel then polish off panel two etc etc. you don’t need to drench the paintwork to make a fine difference. Four or five squirts is usually all I use. Then polish off turning the cloth often and use a new / clean one on each half of the car - I’ve never yet scratched the surface - the dirt seems to just float off. Finally go back over the car with a clean cloth and perhaps another slight mist of the polish.
I think my poor old arms took longer to clean the inside of the windscreen than cleaning the whole car.
No hose, mit or sponge was used - truly waterless 👌
