hi .
have ZS long range , 2022 plate .
when i use the type 2 cable that's with it , it doesn't charge at public stations , tried different public chargers that are working, and still same .

when I use a tethered connection, it charges .
I have tried a 2nd cable from scamazon and it does same thing .
any ideas what's going on ?

I don't know anyone with a EV to try mine in theirs.
I have a granny charger but haven't tried that yet .

What are the settings on the battery screen? If the max charge is set at say 80 and you are at 90%, a type 2 won't charge as the onboard charger shuts off.
The tethered type are higher power and the charger station not the car controls the charging by passing any limits on the battery settings.

hi. in the app the slider is greyed out , so it's off and nothing on infotainment screen.

the front cover of charging port (outer) is snapped off .
the cable i have is the official MG one , no rusty or broken pins , the other was brand-new.
I might try see if the granny charger works on it. if it initiates charging .

On this page of the app, is scheduled charging on? If it is, the car won’t charge outside of the set times on AC but it will on DC, which will override charging schedules.

I've switched if off (swiped slider to left to grey out) , still same and I even tried setting the times from 12.00 to 15.00 to see if that would do anything , but nothing .

need to stick to fast chargers until I sort it out.

After you 100% sure you have no delayed charge schedule set up in either the App OR the head unit, try the granny lead.
If it charges straight away, with no problems at all, then it has to be a problem with the wall box surely ?.
Doing this first, will establish if the car is able to communicate with the car correctly, then allow an A/C charge.
It becomes a worry when it will not accept the Granny unit, as this could imply its a problem with the car ( on board charger etc ).

thanks for replay.
its not a wall box im using , its a public charger that you have to teather to .
I havent tried granny charger yet .
head unit has no charging schedules, same with app.

when I plug connector into car , the front lights light up blue , im car it says hv disconnect. , after I disconnect charger ,car is normal .
I try clicking on charging on headunit and on mg app but it just doent do anything or circles .

surley software wont be stopping it charging

Trying the Granny, it will provide you with that answer very quickly !.
If it charges via the Granny, it is NOT the car !.
This will eliminate the charger in the car and the software.

Hi, when you say fast do you mean AC type 2 or Rapid CCS DC?

The car uses two different types of charging methods for both A/C ( slow charging like wall box / public charging & Granny ) and D/C Rapid charging.
When using a D/C unit, the energy is direct path to the traction battery.
The onboard A/C charger is NOT being used.
It is possible to have a problem on either system.
When your car refuses to to take a charge, it is important to try and establish if is refusing on the A/C path or the D/C path, or both !.
It’s process of elimination.
Try the Granny, if it works then the A/C side should be fine.
If it refusing on a public 7 kw post, then there is likely to be a commutation problem between the post and car.
In this case, you need to find an alternative post that is covered by NOT the same company.

im going to try arnold clark later , thats where i charged it last time because it had same problem.
I will need to use the granny on a extention lead to test it .

if that fails then it must be onboard charger .
and only option is to get it replaced (car had no warranty) so will pick one.up from a breakers and get garage to fit it .

Only problem I have had is leaving the car powered on when trying to initiate a charge. It gives me HV disconnect. Car has to be in standby mode to start charge, after that you can power on the HV battery to see charging speed with no problems.

when i get home im going to disconnect the 12v and see if that makes any difference.
I will check under car aswell incase something looks out of place . instead of getting electricity free i will have to fork out 55p per kwh.

ive tried the screen (its 2nd time ive charged car), I click on start charge , but doesnt do anything , on other screen it shows car with orange glow around it
