The MG service schedule is very similar to other manufacturers.
They are based on time or distance bases.
The important thing to remember, it’s which ever arrives FIRST !.
So, from the first day of registration the clock / date is counting down and the distance covered equally.
E.G. - If the car’s first birthday arrives BEFORE you reach the stated mileage allowance ( let’s say it’s 12,000 ) and you have only covered 6,000 miles in that first 12 months, then you STILL have to present the car for service to conform to the T&C’s.
If on the other hand you are a high user case and you hit the 12,000 threshold after only 9 months, then it has to be presented for service EARLY.
Hence…….. Which ever occurs first.
Some low user cases often get caught out here, thinking because their car has only covered say 5,000 in the first 12 months, then they incorrectly assume that they can wait until the car’s second birthday .
NO ……. This is totally incorrect and you have not adhered to the T&C’s of the warranty T&C’s.
MG’s are not equipped with any type of service schedule reminders, built into the car unfortunately.
Strange when you consider the technology that is built into these cars today.
BMW have been using service schedule / MOT reminders in their cars for donkeys years.
Yes - On the MG there is a service due date / mileage reminder in the head unit, but who checks this on a monthly basis.
The sceptics among us here, may suggest the absence of any built in service schedule reminder, is done deliberately

.
Therefore you can miss your service interval dates and as a direct result, therefore voiding your warranty

.
It’s purely down to the owners to comply.
Unless you are lucky enough to received a message / call from the suppling dealer, reminding you to get your car booked in for its service work.
Both VAG and BMW are sending out service reminders from about the 10th month.
It brings in the work of course.
Like with any warranty, on any product.
You never know how good or bad it is going to be, until the time you find it necessary to make a claim.
One thing is 100% certain, if you contravene the T&C’s of the warranty, then you are handing the manufacturer a reason to reject the claim on a plate.
