If it was me I'd be rejecting the car for being mis-sold.
Agreed, especially considering you’ll be able to find another MG4 fairly easily I would imagine. If these cars were rare than yeah perhaps you take the risk, but that’s not the case here

The MG service schedule is very similar to other manufacturers.
They are based on time or distance bases.
The important thing to remember, it’s which ever arrives FIRST !.
So, from the first day of registration the clock / date is counting down and the distance covered equally.
E.G. - If the car’s first birthday arrives BEFORE you reach the stated mileage allowance ( let’s say it’s 12,000 ) and you have only covered 6,000 miles in that first 12 months, then you STILL have to present the car for service to conform to the T&C’s.
If on the other hand you are a high user case and you hit the 12,000 threshold after only 9 months, then it has to be presented for service EARLY.
Hence…….. Which ever occurs first.
Some low user cases often get caught out here, thinking because their car has only covered say 5,000 in the first 12 months, then they incorrectly assume that they can wait until the car’s second birthday .
NO ……. This is totally incorrect and you have not adhered to the T&C’s of the warranty T&C’s.
MG’s are not equipped with any type of service schedule reminders, built into the car unfortunately.
Strange when you consider the technology that is built into these cars today.
BMW have been using service schedule / MOT reminders in their cars for donkeys years.
Yes - On the MG there is a service due date / mileage reminder in the head unit, but who checks this on a monthly basis.
The sceptics among us here, may suggest the absence of any built in service schedule reminder, is done deliberately 🤷🏻.
Therefore you can miss your service interval dates and as a direct result, therefore voiding your warranty 🤷🏻.
It’s purely down to the owners to comply.
Unless you are lucky enough to received a message / call from the suppling dealer, reminding you to get your car booked in for its service work.
Both VAG and BMW are sending out service reminders from about the 10th month.
It brings in the work of course.
Like with any warranty, on any product.
You never know how good or bad it is going to be, until the time you find it necessary to make a claim.
One thing is 100% certain, if you contravene the T&C’s of the warranty, then you are handing the manufacturer a reason to reject the claim on a plate.

Yes they are - or at least my MG4 SE SR is; it's on the right side of the driver screen and found in the menu options when you select that part via the right joystick. :)

As I said earlier though, it's purely a mileage based reminder.

The German warranty terms define a very clear framework: either the vehicle must be serviced within 12 months or after 24,000 km — whichever comes first.
For the time limit, there is an exact goodwill period of 28 days, which MG has also documented in writing. Even exceeding this by one or more days results in an immediate loss of warranty coverage. You cannot expect any goodwill from MG beyond that.

My car alerted my every time I turned the car on when it was getting to 15,000 miles, and it wasn’t happy when 15,000 miles was exceeded.

As I correctly stated in my post, there IS a service schedule reminder in the head unit of both the ZS EV and the MGS5.
BUT - This info screen only displays the date of the next service, or the next mileage due date.
Viewing this purely rely's on the owner remembering to carry out a physical "hands on" check.
The car does not flag up a "Service Due" warning on the dash or text message to your phone.
If YOU forget to check it, the car is not equipped with any automated warning.
E.G. - Say your annual service due date was 1st March this year, yes it's displayed in the info screen, but you are able to pass this date and continue oblivious that the service due date has passed by.
Not the case on BMW & VAG the car, it will nag you each and every time you start the car.
If your screen is able to display the due service milage date, but not the due time / calendar date, then its pretty much useless tbh if you are a low mileage user case.
If fact, it makes the situation even worse really.

This is the MG4 forum and like i said above the car does have alerts so you’re incorrect here. The MG4 counts down the miles and alerts upon startup as the car gets closer to 15,000 miles (approx 900 miles to go). It also flags a warning when you exceed 15,000 interval when starting car.

Does the MG4 also have the ability to flag up the 12 month annual calendar service date, if it arrives first though ?.
As the ZS EV clearly did not.

No it doesn't - we've already covered that. None of us have said that it's a GOOD reminder feature, just that it is actually there. :)

Having just been in a similar situation myself I can tell you its a nightmare to get MG to state your warranty is still valid. In my case, my supplying dealer closed, I had taken a service contract out with them so they suggest I went to another branch in the group which I did. It turned out that the other branch was not an MG dealer, did not have MG Technicians and did not have access to MG Software. I queried this with MGUK and they confirmed that I had possibly, unwittingly voided my warranty. A whole legal mess kicked off between me, the dealer group and MG UK, MG were really digging their heals in and would not confirm they would honour the warrant. On the point of starting court proceedings against the dealer group, MG said they would honour the warranty in full if the service was done again in full even though it was now 3 months late. The dealer chose this option, did all of the service work again and finally after me chasing MG UK again for several weeks, they confirmed my warranty was valid in full.
I would suggest you return it to Motorway and give them the option to get it properly serviced and confirmation from MG that your warranty is fully valid to avoid future heartache.
