Yesterday my wife drive to work and locked the car. When she returned to the car to drive home, she got a message that the charging door was open, and it was. The door was obviously locked when she parked the car, and she didn't open it herself. She doesn't even know how to charge the car.

Have anyone else experienced this? I think the charging door is covered by a two year warranty, which expires in December. If there is a issue, it's probably not the door itself, but the part the part door goes into, so I'm not sure if that part is 2 or 7 years.

It wont be covered by warranty, it was probably just a bit of grit / debris, open and close it a few times, and see if it happens again in the future. To be honest if she "doesn't even know how to charge the car", then i suspect that the charge door was left fully open when it was last charged at home, she drove to work without realising the message, and only noticed it on the way back. The door closes but not fully latches due to the wind at around 29 mph.

Happened to me once in the first couple of months of ownership.
Hasn’t happened since. I recently started taking extra care when cleaning the charging port area and use a some PTFE spray to displace any water and leave a light lubricating film.

Also I only recently noticed there’s a hook on the inside of the flap where you can hang the two prong rubber cover for the CCS2 port.
Never noticed before. ??‍♂️

You cannot drive the car with charge port open. It won't engage drive.

So this happened to me yesterday.

Finished charging, removed cable and closed the charging door. Moved the car to a different parking spot and locked it. Charging door was closed at this time.

Later, when I unlocked the car the charging door just popped open with the unlock, as if it were being held by the car lock. I just pushed it closed as usual and it's hasn't repeated this since.

A couple weeks ago, I picked up daughter from work. I unlocked the car from inside using the door lock control and I heard a distinct pop sound back left of car. Asked her to check the flap and it was opened. She closed it for me. This morning, I hop in the car and when I closed the door, I heard that pop sound again. I checked and flap was open. Had the car since last November and issue happened twice now. What do other owners do to rectify? Thanks.

I've had that too. The car was parked up all day. When I opened the car on my return using the passengers door button the charging door popped open at the same time. It shut again with the usual push to toggle the mechanism. I put it down to the toggle latch mechanism not fully " over centring" an gripping the post on the last close, and when the central locking mechanism releases on the charging flap lock the vibration was enough to make it pop open. Its the same effect you get with retractable pens that either don't latch when you push the button, or suddenly retract when you first start writing.
Also mine you can definitely drive with the flap open, I've had to do so when latch mechanism froze during winter, there is just a message on the drivers display.

Have you by any chance checked that the closing mechanism/pin is not broken/loose?

This was the problem in at least my case where the charging door would refuse to close/open, and there have been others too in the other forum thread: Charging Flap / Door not opening
Would stand to reason that the same pin or locking mechanism could also cause the door to pop open by itself.
