Has anyone else had an issue with the signal being poor for DAB radio? It was working fine until i left it for 2 weeks in airport parking. The signal keeps dropping out

It could be the weather. See below:

Have the same issue with mine basically the whole time i have the car.

I think the DAB+ HW or antenna or both in MG4 isn't the best, so it's very picky about the signal it gets. In my other car, i have zero DAB issues on the same route.

I guess DAB isn't a priority for the chinese, so tuners and antennas just ain't the best.

Mine has been doing this too. Plays for a couple of minutes and pauses. If I change stations it works again. Started using FM instead or internet radio via CarPlay

Why is it even some modern cars struggle with DAB? My current '71 plate Niro loses signal at the drop of a hat. I can be sitting at a junction and the radio is perfectly fine, next minute no signal and I haven't even moved !

You can partially blame the operators, tha skimp on power and antenna density of the DAB. DAB generally runs on much lower power amplifiers and antennas, so the coverage isn't as good as FM. And if you have a poor tuner and antenna design (as many cars do) the end result is poor experience.

But the latter can be fixed with more and higher power antennas.

Any recommendations to a better antenna?

We have a 2023 MG4 and a 2025 MG HS and both have very poor signal. Considering installing a roof mounted antenna to go alongside the existing one.

Antenna will need to be tuned to the receiver hardware inside the car. So unless you want to modify both, it's not worth it. Might as well stick to FM or stream your radio.

You can sideload your favorite streaming app (like simple radio) and stream your radio over LTE. Directly on the infotainment.
