EV tariff increases the daily tariff !

We are on Octopus Go.

We've now replaced our boiler with an air-source heat pump, so run one of the hot water cycles during the cheap overnight.

The heat pump also doesn't let the house go below its 'set back' temperature which we have set at 18 degrees, so it does a bit of work overnight.

I like to put the dishwasher on overnight anyway, but not the washing machine as a) it is too noisy and b) I think it is best to hang up the clothes ASAP and it doesn't have an accurate timer.

Have solar and battery but on colder days the battery seems to run out in the evening. When the really cold weather comes we will either have to switch to Cosy (and miss out on the cheapest prices but get several cheap-ish slots during the day) or get an extra battery installed.

Our washing machine has an odd timer, but I am able to set it so that the early part of the cycle (the most energy intense) occurs towards the end of the off peak time and the whole program finishes around 6:30, so the damp clothes don't sit in the machine for long.

I am on E ON Next and I get 7.5P from midnight to 06:00 so the car is set to charge then, also despite having had our washing machine for 4 years my wife has discovered it does a delayed wash cycle. So we set that for after midnight as well. We do not got to bed early so the washing machine is 30-45 minutes. Clothes get put on hangers and hung around the house and we fire up a dehumidifier. We come down to dry clothes and around 1 1/2 litres of water which she saves and uses in the steam iron. Win Win....
