Just FYI, I had a nasty surprise from my first MOT. Failed, both front suspension bushes ‘debonded’. The (non-dealership) tester seemed surprised that this should happen after 22k miles.

MG will replace under warranty at the same time as the 3rd service, but I’d suggest others might ask for this to be checked carefully at both second and third service.

That's unfortunate.. In Germany we have something similar called "HU" (Haupt-Untersuchung). First one ist after 3 years and after that every 2 years, so I got mine in September - Curios to see how that goes. Were there any signs of this issue?

No signs that I noticed. Handling was fine, and no suspension noises

well, there was the first sign, no suspension noises, if it had been an XPower and you said the built in vibrator had stopped working, would have been another warning sign ....

Do you have to pay for a second MOT over there? In South Australia, there are no vehicle inspections for rego, so I won't know if the dealer really checked them at each service, until the suspension arms start dragging on the road .....

My MOT was done alongside my 3rd service ... on the 3 year anniversary of me collecting the car. 🤨 Thankfully mine passed with flying colours - not even any advisories.

As all MOTs are supposed to be done to the same, defined standard then the reported issue should be picked up by any MOT test centre. 🤷‍♂️

I've just had my 23 plate 3rd service at 18000 miles with an MOT due in 1 month. I've been advised that my bushes are also worn and may not pass the test. They've also quoted £750 to replace them, and that's the local MG dealer who've done all the servicing so far. Would/should this be covered by the guarantee?

I think it absolutely should

Do you have a face lift model (with rear wiper)?

Mine are ok at 45k miles, passed first MOT with no comments . I don't think these vertically mounted bushes as fitted to the 4 last as long as horizontal types.

I had a Ford mondeo with this arrangement on the track control arms and it needed new ones every other MOT IIRC.
The state of UK roads soon expose the compromised designs unfortunately

If memory serves I don't think this is the first time suspension issues have been reported on reasonably low mileage cars by members
Mine were failing at 12.000 miles. Noted during second service that they were split and cracked but took 4 months to be changed as MG wanted to check them again after 3mths
