Front passenger seat not folding flat?

Yes, I tried various ways earlier, I was really surprised how far (or how not very far) the front passenger seat actually went forward, there's easily enough room for it to go a further 6 inches or so, forward.

Would a longer rail do the trick?

It likely doesn't go any further down to the passenger airbag calibration. No-one wants an exploding device taking their face off in a crash.

There has to be a suitable gap between a persons head and the dashboard to allow for the airbag to safely deploy and cushion the head. If a head is too close then the explosion of the airbag could cause severe face damaged/death.

Some force in the airbags, my sister-in-law fractured her wrist once when she went to hit the horn just as the airbag deployed. Also read once about a guy who ended up with a fractured skull as he was leaning forward when it went off and it pushed him up into the windscreen.

Definitely not to be messed with.

Last week I carried a 1950mm high bookcase in my MG4 and had to make do with it propped up at the front because the seat back doesn't fold flat.
But just a few days before that I had removed the driver's seat to add some packing between the seat foam and the wire springs and plastic that supports it. The seat comes out with just 4 torx bolts into the floor. I didn't take a lot of notice but think there were other combinations of holes in the seat runner so one could fix it in a slightly further forward position if a flat- folding seat was important to you.

Mine's a 23 build SE, so seats may be different to Trophy or later models. Beware the cable connections under the seat and handle it gently because of lateral air bags. You can probably just slide the seat and look to see if your rails have other bolt holes
