Problem solved - the charger is broken - moved to another charger and it all started fine!

Or if you have left one of the doors / bonnet or hatch slightly open.The car will honk if you try and lock the car with the ignition left on.
It was a knackered charger that was the problem - switched to another bay/charger, and it all worked as expected.I have a rolec charger and it couldn't be more simple. Turn off the car. Check your MG App to turn off scheduling and make sure you have selected 80% or 100% charge.
Then plug in the cable into the car and then the wallpod (or if its tethered just plug into the car). Charging should start automatically once you have initiated with the RFID.
Then lock the car. Your MG App should then show your charging status. Tap the battery bar and it will give you more info. If the charge hasn't started there is a start charge button.
