Hi Everyone

My Xpower was purchased privately on 7th Feb from Grimsby and whilst I didn't plan on buying one quite so soon, It was a bargain I couldn't resist. Registered in December 25, I paid £21k with only 56miles on the clock. Totally as new. Drove perfect the 200miles home to near Marlborough, Wiltshire. I stopped near Leicester at a Tesla supercharger just to add 30% charge. I got home with 26% remaining, perfect.

The car will just be for occasional use for now as I have a driving school with a leased car which I may as well continue using as much as possible whilst I have it. However next year I plan to semi retire and will just buy a cheap used car for the occasional driving lesson and the Xpower will be my main personal car.

I have had a decent selection of "quick" project cars over the years, Including many Daihatsu Charade GTti's, A 210hp MG Maestro Turbo, Sierra Sapphire Cosworth and more recently a Porsche Cayman GTS.

But yes of course the Xpower is certainly the quickest accelerating, certainly at legal speeds.
Playing around tuning up engines seems like a waste of time these days!

However I like to fiddle about...trying not to get carried away!

So far I have fitted some new plain number plates
(the originals were mounted a bit wonky and I'm not so keen on EV green border plates)

Mudflaps. (still to fit)

All weather rubber type floor mats / boot liner from Aliexpress (still in transit).

The interior silicone inserts for the door pocket etc storage areas.

Silver 19" alloys with 235/40/19 Goodyear tyres (almost identical overall diameter as the factory 235/45/18...0.4% difference)
The wheels are approx 1.5kg lighter than the factory wheels.
And the Goodyear tyres also seem a little lighter than most.
might be a overall a couple of KG saving per wheel.

Not in a rush to fit the alloys yet...First I need to get my garage cleared out so the car can fit inside.

Also bought some new 6.5" door speakers to hopefully improve the stereo slightly.
Again a job im not going to rush to do..wait for when I have a full day off work and the weather is warm.

I hope to share more about the car and learn from the more experienced owners on here.
And I have a good amount of automotive knowledge myself.
Although this is my first EV.

Cheers,

Nathan Munns

To the forum. Nathan. Nice motor!
And another fellow, modder. Look forward to seeing the new alloys on. 🙂👍
Ha yes.

Must admit im in two minds about the orange caliper covers.. I might paint them grey...Or remove them altogether.

With the MG warranty. I better only do things to the car that can be easily be swapped back...ie..I will bolt the original wheels back on when it goes to MG for it's yearly service!

I wish to lower the car with the H&R Springs, just not yet.

If anyone needs to get new TPMS sensors setup for new wheels.
I can do it as I have a AUTEL TPMS tool.

You just need to buy the AUTEL "MX Sensor" and post them to me.

Although im not sure if the car will just accept a new sensor code after a few miles of driving..(many cars do)
With my new wheels I have simply cloned the orginal sensors and the car will be none the wiser.

Oh yes, As a new owner I did a lot of reading up about the cars,

I need to say something about the dreaded vibration hum...

Well my car was made Oct 25, so has the later rear suspension vibration fix.

There is no vibration felt through the steering of mine at any speed.

However I can see where people could still have concerns...

At between 50-60mph...certain road surfaces and certain speeds can provoke a slight drone/hum sensation. Infact it's almost to the point where it feels like you have a manual gearbox car and you are slogging along at too high a gear and very low RPM. Bit boomy.

To me it sounds like a floorpan resonance. And judging just how heavy the factory wheels are, and those factory Bridgestones also seem to be quite hard rubber compound.

It's not something that bothers me and I will not be surprised if fitting different wheels/tyres improve it.

I have had similar on other cars when fitting upgraded polybushes to the suspension.

That sensation is what mine does, a drone/ hum/resonance heard more than felt thru the body of the car at lower speeds and at around 70mph accompanied by a slight vibe in steering wheel.

I think I get it sometimes when you give the car a max power blast. I came off a roundabout and floored it and it almost felt like my eyes went blurry, haha.
