Home Charging for a Newbie

Just reading up on this (Google is your friend!) and it seems most 'experts' are still recommending that, to maximise the longevity of your LFP battery, you limit charging to 80%, only charging to 100% every now and then to equalise the battery.
With a PHEV I wouldn't charge it back up to 100% every time you do a short journey.

Work out your usual journey distance and when it drops below that range charge it up to 100% the night before your next drive. Then it won't be sitting at 100%, or cycling between 75-100% which is the issue that has been raised in the research you've probably seen.

As stated in the post you responded to, my commute is 58 miles, so I'm exhausting the battery down to 20% charge (approx) every trip, and therefore have to charge for the following day's commute. We are advised to keep the battery between 20% and 80%, so I'm looking for a happy medium but there doesn't appear to be a function, either on the car or in the app, which allows you to limit the charge to a particular percentage. It requires a 'back-of-the-fag-packet' calculation to work out when you need to end your scheduled charging session. This is not beyond me, but it strikes me as a relatively easy function to add to either the app, the charger, or the car. Not to worry. If it's not possible, it's not possible.

Sorry - forgot that detail from earlier.

Do request the feature from MG.

Manufactures aren't providing the same guidance so I don't think it would be a priority for them. But if it would be easy to roll out the feature then they should offer consumers the choice.

They are offering a warranty on the battery so you'd think they would include this if they thought it made a difference.

Our Givenergy EVSE scheduler works by inputting a charging time, so it would be easy for us to set that to the amount of time it would take to fill up a desired amount.

But I realise your charging app might not be so convenient and it might vary from day to day as well. But if you do have that a rough figure of the time it takes to fill up, say, 75% of your battery then should do the job within tolerances.
