I do agree to an extent although I think that the European manufacturers are catching up .

Are they? I don't think so at all. The Chinese aren't standing still and in fact are pulling away even more from the European manufacturers. BYD already announced a 5 min full charge time coming vey soon. My PV system, my car, my phone and in fact lots of items in my house are 100% made in China by Chinese companies. Jus had another delivery today, super fast 4 day with free shipping. Very happy

I think the whole idea of a Chinese or a non-Chinese car is absurd anyway. Even if a Peugeot is put together in France, so much of it comes from other countries (and much of it from China of course).

There is this interesting video about how American build cars are affected by tariffs on parts from abroad. Really shows how global these products are.

Sure, they played a part in the design but the components and electronics are Chinese and like that as it makes these cars quite unique unlike the European offerings which have components supplied by a vareity of countries and probably even China.

Funny thing is, although the car is very popular in the UK, and mine drives brilliantly, it is not so popular in China. The Toyota Corolla was the best selling car in the world for many years, and its blandy pants.

Word gets around in the end, look what happened to Rover 20 years ago. They had some nice looking, nice driving cars and at a really good pricepoint. It’s just that most people who’d owned one in the past wouldn’t buy another, and most who hadn’t yet bought one had heard bad things from those who had.

It wasn't lack of sales that did for rover, (at least not to a large extent) it was mismanagement over an extended period of time by greedy cretins (The Phoenix four) who were pulling out vast amounts of money for themselves!

Yes, it was designed for the export market.

They don't do a full software update on delivery as it will take them most of a full day to do and can be problematic and it is time consuming as a tech has to monitor the process.

From a cost point of view if 90% of the ones they deliver are fine then they only have to do a much smaller number so the owners have to find out which are the ones that need sorting.

I sort of take your point there, however BMW sold Rover to them for £10. That’s not something you do with a profitable company with a decent reputation.

Agreed, I'm not saying Rover was thriving, but BMW wanted to offload it as they already had what they really wanted, the Mini marque.
