Insurance for Cyberster

We had a nice reveal ceremony of the Cyberster at Hensol Castle in South Wales on the 12th August. Beautiful sunny day. 4 cars. 1 static and 3 for test drives. As it was held in Wales, was mainly arranged in conjunction with Nathaniel Cars who are the main MG dealership here. Liverpool & Wales football legend Ian Rush was there as a guest speaker as was Kevin Ratcliffe (Former Everton footballer).
Only had a short test drive of the Trophy (For a Roadster, lighter is better and in an EV range will be better) but the build quality, fit & finish and of course the doors etc make it a stunning car. Hard to believe it is the same manufacturer as the MG4- which is still a great car. (Have just joined this forum for more MG4 & X Power info!) Disappointed there is still no frunk as although the boot is useable, that would have made it an even better European GT car for 2 people. And it is a very long bonnet so it’s a shame it has not been utilised for some extra storage space- even the cable bag.
No demos until this month at the local dealership when I will get the chance of a longer drive.

It appears Admiral have the GT listed as Rear Wheel Drive and do not recognise the car as 4WD.

Can someone please check their policy as the call centre said they can't insure as the car does not match the spec on their system.

I'm picking top my Cyberster Trophy in 3 hours (woohoo!). My MG4 was insured via Churchill for which I was paying about £450 per year. They quoted me on their on line quote tool about £950 for the Cyberster and talking to them on the phone they "offered" me about £700. But I'd been quoted about £440 from AA Beam which I accepted. So actually pretty happy with that!

Congrats on your new motor. And excellent insurance quote. 🙂👍

Back on the Insurance topic - in just over a month I will need to renew. Last year I went with Admiral multicar mainly because my preferred insurer LV said they didn’t insure the Cyberster Trophy (assume also GT)
I checked recently with LV and they still don’t and of course it is impossible to get any rationale for that decision.
I’ve had a windscreen claim with Admiral during this year which was handled OK but no other dealings so I’m not anti Admiral.
I see several posters on here also used Admiral too but it would be good to have a choice if anyone’s found any reasonable alternatives?

Wait until you are 80 and have 1 minor ding on the other car full no claim cover £1400 for trophy er In Bexley.

I am insured through Quote me Happy. Renewed end of June £329. Had my MGTF insured through them before that, was £122 for the year. strange thing is when I changed the policy last October for the cyberster they said no additional fee was required. Got 9 months for £122. this was obviously Fully Comp with around £500 total excess, Windscreen covered.

Thanks - but I’ll be 75 within the first policy year so I would need to change again after one year. They say only drivers 21-75. It looks an interesting proposition though and part of Aviva.
