is it possible to turn the creep mode off
thanks in advance

i would prefer it to stop and let me take my foot off the brake

Just put on the auto-hold.

Then it'll always keep the brakes applied once stopped until you gas it (probably not the correct term for a BEV!) again.
is that the switch below the front screen demist

You can just pop it into N if you want it to keep rolling without creep or regen. I find the creep far too strong when slowly coming to a stop so I'll often use N briefly. The power flow screen shows this uses less power.

I’m not sure if the MG5 is like the ZS but in regen1 the regen is very light. MG also say in the manual not to coast in N.

I think when they say not to coast in Neutral they mean coasting down hills. It is safety advice, not to protect the vehicle systems. Sliding into Neutral, as Petriix says, shouldn't be an issue.
