iSmart app.....Do I REALLY need it?

I cannot scan the QR code either. Tips would be great 🤞😊
You might be better posting your question on the MG ZS forum as the procedure is probably different to the MG4

Is phone already binded with the car? If you click on the user icon on the car home screen does it show you are logged in?

Can't even get as far as seeing the QR code on mine much less bind with it. The car just says it has no connection in spite of having a perfectly good signal.
It's nice getting into a warm car (Tesla's app works perfectly in comparison) but it's not the end of the world not having it on the MG. The car warms up inside and defrosts much faster than any ICE I've ever owned so having to sit on a heated seat for a few minutes before setting off isn't a huge issue. IMO it's one of those 'nice to have' things but I'm not going to lose any sleep over not using it.

Mine played up the other day, when I asked it to cool down. It just told me to try again later, but when I got to the car 5minutes later the aircon was on and car cool. And now when it connects it doesn't show state of charge or range. But vehicle status seems to work.

Ismart is not active in Türkiye, I cannot see the charge of my car without going to it. I get into a freezing cold car in cold weather. I wish it would work even if it was problematic.

You could go back to a dealership and get them to sort the connection out for you. It is a feature of the car and as such should work.

I've found the app to be really useful , both to warm up the car on cold days and to cool it on hot ones . I also use it to unlock the car at work when I've left something in the car but, but get to it only to find my keys are still in my desk!

Sounds like you need a software update - I needed an update and then everything worked, and don't apply the latest version automatically (I believe)

I would certainly miss the convenience things mentioned above - and also a quick check on tyre pressures before I head out (one thing less to do when in the car).

Bear in mind that the app shows the last-reported tyre pressures (i.e. the pressures before the car was last turned off), which may not be the same as the current actual tyre pressures.

Ah… didn’t appreciate this (silly me). Thank you.

I might regret this (I'm not a great lover of "Apps") Thought I'd give it a try though.

I've installed the app on my phone, but when it comes to "binding" I hit a brick wall. Seems there's nowhere on the infotainment screen to set this up ?

Car is MG4 trophy LR 73 plate.

I'm off to the dealership next week for the first time, but got enough issues without having to bother him with this trivial issue

Assuming you've never bound the car to your account previously, and it is a 2nd hand car, then the car may still be bound to the previous owner's account. MG can reset the binding on their end.

There are lots of videos on YouTube showing the binding process.

Thanks siteguru, I'll mention it when I go there.

Build your own app! Through the use of Home Assistant, SAIC's API, and the relevant hardware to run Home Assistant off of, then you can actually control (and automate a lot of stuff along the way) your MG directly from the Home Assistant app on a smartphone. Obviously, things like the digital key (using your phone to start the car) won't work, but unlocking, charge control, etc. all work well.

It's not as easy as just setting up the iSmart app though :D

The main use I have found is when charging from home. I always programme the charge using the infotainment screen as I have an EV Energy Tariff from midnight to 05:00. But sometimes, the car starts charging straight away.
The benefit of the ismart app is that it is quick and easy to stop charging using the app when you might be away from the car. Aside from that, not too useful.
