Just got my license and I want to buy a used MG4 Trophy any advice?

Their tech is second to none, the look of the cars and minimalist interior might not be to everyone's taste but the efficiency they get other makers would love to have
I would question the tech. There have been a few prangs in the US because the car's systems messed up.

@redwood98 How's the MG4? Have you been out in it yourself yet? What colour is it? Picture?
It's a bit dirty at the moment and needs cleaning but I have driven it twice so far today, (my insurance started today) I thought I was just going to do a little drive to try to get used to it as I drove a manual for my test but I got used to the pedals within the first few minutes. Been to a public charger to charge it already too. (apparently the cheapest in the UK)

I was talking about their motors etc the only thing I've seen that's close to it is lucid

We don't need to look much further than this forum for questionable safety tech!

Brilliant, glad you're getting on well with it. Working out how to public charge is a masive tick in the box regards ownership. Different chargers may have slightly different instructions, but as long as you follow the instructions they provide you shouldn't have a problem.

Did you use a Tesla supercharger? AFAIK they're the cheapest public chargers in the UK.

As for cleaning it, there are a few people on here who are a bit OCD in their cleaning (and I'm counting myself in that regard) If it doen't have mud flaps, then a set of those help cut down on the amount of muck thrown from the tyres up the sides and rear of the car. Can be bought very cheaply from places like AliExpress.

It was not a Tesla charger but a power company running off of wind turbines. Thanks for the advice about the mud flaps, I'll buy some now to go with my other AliExpress purchases lol. If possible could you post a link for the ones you got?

I've got these ebay ones, they fit really well.

I got my mud flaps from MGTitan (hit for me, a miss for others). I am convinced the mud flaps all come from the same factory so just buy them from a place that is affordable and you trust I would say.

I’ve driven manual for most of my driving years, and to stop my left foot using the brake pedal for a clutch, I always keep it planted on the foot rest.

I bought these recently as I managed to break one of the original ones I bought 2 years ago (caught it on a kerb in a multi story car park) They were cheap enough to buy an entire set of four instead of looking for one.

So I passed 3 days ago and I went to look at an MG4 trophy, I immediately wanted one but unfortunately the dealership didn't have the colour I wanted. I have driven one a little too and it's a massive upgrade from a manual. I am planning on getting a black 2023 model with under 20k miles. Does anyone have any advice at all? Things to look out for, best milage, how to find the capacity left on the battery to make sure it's good etc... Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
The only advice I can give you is..go for it and get one. After close to 3 years of my SR SR I can still say that it is a wonderful car to own and drive. So easy to live with and I still love mine. No faults so far. A fantastic car for the money.

Thanks, I have been enjoying it a lot, first solo drive today and all went well too, not sure where but I'm sure I'll be driving somewhere tomorrow too. (It's basically free fuel after all).

Still nice to use that Torque to get to the Speed Limit very quickly. This is especially the case with the XPower. Just need to reign it in when you get there.

Are new drivers in the UK allowed to drive the XPower? Here they are only for a full license.

Keep us updated with your adventures.

Once you pass your car driving test you can drive any car in the UK. Motorcycle license is different, and you are limited initially after passing your test, but this is age dependent (older riders can ride anything)

I don't know you, have no knowledge of your lifestyle, driving ability etc. But I'll say it. Potentially its too fast for you. Buy something slower and get some driving experience in for a few years. Congratulations on passing and yes I was young once. Good luck.

Congratulations on passing driving test
The mg4 ev trophy is a great car we had one for a few months but the new mgs5 ev came out in September so we indulged and treated ourselves to a brand new model
