Actually, we are dumping our Indian partners....Talk doesn’t change much, go crowd fund a software team in India to develop your own software to implement a user selectable LKA mode.
Did it steer you away from the outer lining?LKA is sh!te, today I nearly got steered into an on coming vehicle, it is only time before someone has an accident. I have a fully UpToDate car as it has been in for AC charging issues. How can this be an NCAP safety feature when it is constantly trying to make you have an accident?
Why? You can display them on the drivers display.I often use ‘ACC’ and yesterday - setting-off on a long journey and anticipating some traffic-jams on the way - I decided to try ‘TJA’. If you think ‘LKA’ is bad you should try ‘TJA’. I couldn’t keep the car in a straight line. Is it supposed to be selected just while you’re in queueing traffic? I had to pull-in at the side of the road so I could flick through the menus on the non-responsive centre display to disable it.
Another problem I realised on my journey is that the centre display is too reflective to be able to see the satnav directions at the top of the screen. I miss the turn and distance details on the driver’s display that I had in my last ICE car.
If you mean steer from the road side to the centre line of the road whilst a car was coming the opposite way, yes, that was what happened.Did it steer you away from the outer lining?
I’ve missed that. How do I do that? Why? You can display them on the drivers display.
Push the infotainment/instrument button once (right side steering wheel, middle one). Now you can chose between various functions such as radio, tyre pressure, power consumption clicking the toggle left or right. If you started a navi session, one of the options is to show the navi info. I use it very often. Just enough info there.I’ve missed that. How do I do that?
TJA is intended for low speed traffic situations - hence the name, Traffic Jam Assist. However, it also works at higher speeds like a poor man's auto-pilot. The design intent is to keep the car centrally in the lane, hence why the steering wheel fidgets a lot ... they don't have much damping on the assistance.I often use ‘ACC’ and yesterday - setting-off on a long journey and anticipating some traffic-jams on the way - I decided to try ‘TJA’. I was told at my MG4 service last week that they were developing a lka suitable for british roads. It'd be ready by next autumn and they would load then, or on the next annual service. My MG4 was recently in for its first service looks like they did a software update as the a/c screen now comes up when you enter the car . Also the lane kepping assist seems to be less violent that it was before does anyone know if this is the case ?
Might as well default to 'off' then. ?I believe that its being developed to make allowances for pot holes![]()
It might be interesting to know if you have R59 installed. It refers to the entertainment system, but it can come with several other module updates. Here is link to find which one you haveSince my service in April my TJA assist has gone from perfectly usable on motorways to very dangerous, veering to the left and right whereas before it was pretty much staying central in the lane and giving small adjustments when needed.
However the LKA is much better, never beeps and even when I try steering off over the line to test it it has very gentle correction, not the crazy jerky movements it used to make which was diffcult to self correct. The electro magnet or however the steering rack is controlled by the computer is much less powerful. No idea what software version I am on, butfor LKA and
for TJA
Overall I am still loving the car. I see more and more negative press about electric cars all the time and my colleagues are all very negative about them too (cos the believe what they read!) Its a bit sad.
Very disappointing result. They only did some software checks to find out everything was the latest version. No R59, no shortcut to LKA on the central display. No improvements on anything. They couldn't even adjust the washers!!Funny. I just got a spare car, the MG EHS PHEV because mine needs some fixes.
The spare car had ELK defaulted and the experience was totally different from the MG4, although when going into the menu everything looks the same.
To keep it simple, it corrected frequently but very mildly. It also did not block me from moving from one lane to the other when the indicator was on. Using the milder version was actually even more pleasant because it did not force to drive in the middle of the lane. If you filter on lane or lane assist in the EHS forum, there is nothing in the titles on the first 10 pages. It is frustrating that they can make it work on this car, but not on the MG4.
Similar experience with ACC on the EHS: no issues of reducing speed when overtaking (this may be something I experience with my specific car).
Next the A/C Outside temp. was about 18 degrees. So I set the A/C at 20 degrees and immediately the air became about hand warm. You would need 25 degrees in the MG4 to achieve this. This more or less denies the explanation that the MG4 implementation is specific to the typical Chinese interpretation of how the A/C should work. Because it doesn't on the MG EHS PHEV (nor the ZS btw)
I took my Trophy in this week with a long list of issues. They upgraded the infotainment to R46 and claim to have updated a number of modules. The service receptionist (who just passes on messages) claimed that the ACC dropping-out as you're overtaking is expected behaviour. Also the daylight sensitivity is as expected for the lights. The lane keep functions are still nudging me one way or another (possibly even worse). I've never known the pothole situation to be as bad as it is this year and it's hard enough to avoid them without something else tugging at the steering.Very disappointing result. They only did some software checks to find out everything was the latest version. No R59, no shortcut to LKA on the central display. No improvements on anything. They couldn't even adjust the washers!!
They did admit there is fix on its way for the bulging undertray.
