Locked out

Just want to say thank you to everyone for their input. It turns out I don't have to wait for the lights to go out, this morning I unlocked the car, opened the back door (the one behind the driver), put my 3 yrs old in his seat, strapped him in and shut the door - the car auto locked itself with my little one in there. It is a massive safety issue, especially with the current heatwave but also in general. I am very disappointed with both, RAC and Octopus, as they both claim it was a human error and will not return the money I paid for the locksmiths. Be careful out there with your cars.

I suggest you contact your dealer and Octopus and make them aware if this critical safety issue. The car should not be doing this. It should not be connected to the software updates done at the last service but, as others have reported, not all dealers are clued up with the MG's software systems.

You cannot be sure that the car will not unlock itself or even lock you in completely for which there was a DVSA recall.

One other point. Is your car set to lock all doors at 10 mph? If so try switching that off and see what happens

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but after 2 painful days at MG Newbury the software was updated on my car and the issue seems to be fixed... I have also spoken to ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) people and they managed to get the claim with Octopus to re-opened.. hopefully will be able to recover the money I paid for the locksmiths...
