I would go along with all of you. But our voice is not heard. We are too much scatered around the world to make them listen. Even if it hits the press (UK article about MG4), they promise a lot, do nothing and nobody really makes them clear they have work to do. On top of that, we should not forget that many others simply disagree with us. They are fine with these systems, or with disabling these system again and again.
I'm an EU citizen. So the EU directives are leading, also the one about what we call LKA systems. So I asked Brussel to confirm the interpretation of the directive that describes the systems LDWS and CFCK. The first one is the warning system when crossing lane markers, the second is when it intervenes with your steering. Together, in the directive the two are named ELK systems.

They acknowledged based on this directive that these two systems should not be triggered when crossing dashed markers.
However, they come up with a statement that LKA systems are a different system that are allowed to react to dashed markings.

Thing is: LKA systems are the same as ELK systems in the way this directive describes them. And it is this very directive that states we will always have them activated at startup.

Asking what the difference is between both, and where the directive about LKA systems can be found leads to no response...... We are talking to a concrete wall. People must first die before they act.

I totally agree with your thoughts.
Especially in the UK and the state of the road system with regards to the Potholes and other issues with the roads. It can be terrifying to be driving down the road and you know that one is ahead and you manoeuvre to avoid it and the Damn system tries to put you into the obstruction.
The first time I forgot to disable the lane assist was nearly my Last one. I completely Hate the Damn thing.
I've managed to drive since 1980 in the UK and I've only had one accident and it was someone who drove into the back of me at traffic lights.
I don't believe that the car knows more than the DRIVER...

Had it happen twice, once with me driving, and once with my wife driving. Car received a number of updates at the service, and not had it occur since.

If you turn on "Towing Mode" the following is disabled:

Random Emergency Braking
Lane Keep Assassination

You do not need to turn this back on every time you jump into the car although sometimes it will remind you and you might just need to hit the CANCEL button rather than going to SETTINGS

BTW ... The car won't beep at you at all for anything, even if you are going to reverse into something

I did not pay for a car with systems I need to disable because they do not work.

I don't understand why everyone is so nonchalant about this! It just happened to me (I'll remove my post, didn't see this one before!) and it's potentially incredibly dangerous. If it had happened at any higher speed than it just did for me, and there was a vehicle following behind, the chances are that they would have driven right into the back of me.

I've disabled the function now (also ludicrous that you need to do so each time, it should remember the setting) but that is wholly unacceptable IMO.
Make sure your camera are clean

I've only had it twice. First time was justified and I'm glad it did stop me, second time I was simply turning right with a stationary truck on the side of the road, must have detected I was moving too quickly towards the back of it and slammed on the anchors.

Other than that mines been fine.

The radar sensor is behind the coloured panel below the number plate and between the vent grilles.

Not it isn't.

It is behind the front bumper.
You cannot see it from outside the car.

It's just to the right of the front camera.
