I would go along with all of you. But our voice is not heard. We are too much scatered around the world to make them listen. Even if it hits the press (UK article about MG4), they promise a lot, do nothing and nobody really makes them clear they have work to do. On top of that, we should not forget that many others simply disagree with us. They are fine with these systems, or with disabling these system again and again.
I'm an EU citizen. So the EU directives are leading, also the one about what we call LKA systems. So I asked Brussel to confirm the interpretation of the directive that describes the systems LDWS and CFCK. The first one is the warning system when crossing lane markers, the second is when it intervenes with your steering. Together, in the directive the two are named ELK systems.
They acknowledged based on this directive that these two systems should not be triggered when crossing dashed markers.
However, they come up with a statement that LKA systems are a different system that are allowed to react to dashed markings.
Thing is: LKA systems are the same as ELK systems in the way this directive describes them. And it is this very directive that states we will always have them activated at startup.
Asking what the difference is between both, and where the directive about LKA systems can be found leads to no response...... We are talking to a concrete wall. People must first die before they act.
