Hi I took delivery of a new MG HS Hybrid on 27/6/2025. I have had to call MG assist 4 times due to flat battery. The car is going back to the dealer, but have requested a replacement vehicle.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

To the forum. Not a good start to new MG ownership. Hope it's sorted soon. 🙂👍

Hi.
I have the same issue. I live in France.
I got my new EHS 3 weeks ago and already 2 flat batteries.
My car is at the garage for investigation..
Do you know the root cause?
Thx

Same here. HS PHEV TROPHY. Picked up 22/6/2025. Back at dealer due to three flat batteries. Something is draining the battery when it's stood with ignition off. A faulty component no doubt.

Hi, same issue here. been told the issue is the backlight on the infotainment screen not turning off when car is locked. Causes 12V battery to drain to flat. Software fix due 21st of July according to dealer. Attempts at replacement CCU (infotainment control unit) has failed to fix issue (obviously as firmware is issue and will be the same).

Actually, the CCU is the Combined Charging Unit, a very expensive device. Cowboys; that has cost someone dearly. They must have thought that the DC-DC (part of the CCU) was not charging the auxiliary battery, but it's trivial to figure out if that's working or not.

that'll teach me for re-spouting what a service advisor says.
under warranty so didn't cost the customer a penny thankfully. i would have thought just turning the car on without the engine kicking in and checking battery voltage would do the trick. but my knowledge of cars extends to changing the brakes and oil/filters.

It's a shame as the car is a big step up from previous MGs in quality of finish. but seems to be a widespread issue my local dealer had at least three in at the same time as mine and I've spoken to another 6 local people with the same problem. i suspect that will rise quickly though.

personally if the update doesnt fix mine I'll reject it as a lemon.

Same issue with mine. The dealer contacted MG and they have told them there is a batch with this issue. He said the fix is due 14th to 15th July. I have everything crossed it fixes the problem or I will also be rejecting it. Despite the dealer going pale when I mentioned it

MG dealer contacted me today and said MG have not got a fix for this and cannot give a date as to when fix will be available. So at present I have their demo car which is working as it should.

The dealer has confirmed the back light on the screen is staying on. At present MG do not have a fix and no date as to when they will.

Hello,I'm getting my PHEV this week. It is from May 2025. Is there possibly an overview of which vehicles could be affected (VIN, year/month of manufacture)?

Hello Totti.
It seems that this is only on cars delivered in june 25. But I don't know when mine was manufactured.

Still no fix in sight and fed up of the BS from the garage so rejected the car on 18th July. In the hands of the finance company now.

I still have the same issue with my MG HS PHEV and have had it since deluvery date of 1st of July. MG services in Aberdeen tried to upload new software on 21st July but software has a bug and update is suspended. Still waiting for my car issue to be resolved

I think this is more than a software fix. I bailed out and rejected mine yesterday. Now looking for a new car. If yours is less that six months I would reject under Consumer Rights 2015. Something smells bad about this issue.

Same problem as you all. Bought 30 June 2025 and failed three times since then due to no battery voltage. AA guy told me we were entitled to free hire car courtesy of MG and even to the trouble of arranging it. Initially dealer acted as if it was my problem not theirs, had no loan car and wouldn’t look at it until 31 July. Phone call to lease company saying I was getting ready to reject it seems to have improved the dealers attitude. Car when the hire car has to go back and working on it night and day.
