The video is what it is and I mention the fact they must have been taking it slow due to the time so not really any need to watch it if it is no interest to anyone.
For comparison Google estimates the journey should take 8hrs 17 mins from Bridgend to St Andrews, driving at the speed limit
I found it interesting and entertaining thanks for sharing 👍

Yes, Teslas are remarkably efficient. But after watching that video, it is the IM5 I want.
I do like the look of the IM 5 but it's so big and heavy it's definitely not been built with the UK in mind, as discussed in the video if it had been the same size as the 3 or the polestar 2 and I think it could have been game over for them but over 20cm longer without much more room in the back and a pretty small boot compared to the size then it's more a competitor for the ID 7.

I am seriously considering test driving one but I did say to the wife I wouldn't get a car of that size again after the issues with my arteon

Do try one. The rear wheel steer really offsets the bulk (so I have been told).

I will take a test drive but it is definitely more a case of like the look of it rather than need it, and I'd like to see how it does in terms of software, OTA updates, efficiency and niggles in the real world. Which is fine as I'm not looking to change till next year.

My preference is something 300 miles plus wltp but really efficient, Musk and the lack of driver display/HUD has put me of Tesla, impressive as they are efficiency wise.

Mercedes have just announced their smaller battery CLA in Europe, it's a 58kwh LFP to take on the standard range tesla and has a 323 miles wltp range it's £39k in Europe so a direct competitor for the 3 sr and probably the IM5 SR, it's obviously hugely efficient like the small battery Tesla standard kit won't be as extensive as the IM models to be fair.

The issue is take the IM 5 for example, real world range is

Standard range 255 miles from a 75 kWh battery

Long range 355 miles from a 100 kWh battery

Both of those are average if it was mostly fast roads then it's less.

Compare to Tesla model 3 as they are efficient

Standard range 275 miles from a 64kwh battery

Long range 360 miles from an 82kwh battery

Both Tesla's get further for less before you even charge them.

The IM 6 is even worse!

I go hill walking aat least once a month and public charging can be unavoidable. We know motorway charging can be a rip off with some chargers at 85p

So to even top up just the difference in battery sizes without doing a bigger charge is

IM Standard range £9.35

Long range £15.30 extra

And as I say that's only the difference in battery sizes not a full charge.

I'd rather not pay more than I need to for charging when I don't have too.
They would never have worked to make ice cars more efficient if that was the case

Sure, that is why i said that IF you mostly charge at home efficiency is not a significant consideration. I very very rarely ever use a public charger (and with a range of 300 miles even less so!).Therefore, other considerations are more important to me such as how the car drives, what tech does it offer….

I think we can agree to disagree because even charging at home a car that could be just scraping 3 miles per kwh on average could have as much tech as it likes it's still poor value for money.

I agree!

4 or 3 miles per kw means a cost difference of £1.75 per full charge.
