MG ZS EV 2024 charging port door won't open (dead 12V)

Yes, this is weird hmadsen. I am suspicious about whether it was actually an ota. However, dealer did say sometimes updates do happen in the background. He's been right about everything so far.

Yes, my car is connected to WiFi.
I think i will try allowing the ZS EV to connect to my Wifi.

This way i can also monitor if it is actually downloading anything, when and how many megabytes.

Ok guys. So after checking, this is the map version I am now running. Not sure if it's the latest. Prior to this version it was an earlier 2022 version. I think this version is a late 2022 version. This is the one that the system was telling me was an update.

Hmadsen, my car was bought new & registered on 30th Jan this year (2025). Similar to yours. Can you see in your settings what version of maps you have?

As expected your car did not receive any MAP updates OTA.

This version is the same one my car was delivered with, i manually updated the maps (Even though we do not actually use the built in satnav) to the latest version that is available on MG's website as of today (Just checked)

It is running "Map update 2023 Q4" i am not able right not to take a picture of the screen as the wife is at work and its her car so she took it :)

When my car car delivered i was told they had updated every module in the car to the latest version, it was on the computer for the better part of the day according to the guy at MG that handed it over, he said this was a part of the standard routine for a "preinspection and servicing" so i would imagine your car has got the same deal as well, which is why i would not expect there to be any actual new updates to send OTA, even if that worked.

I was also told the service agreement we signed up for would include a yearly update of any modules, where newer software was released, together with the stuff in the list of what's supposed to be serviced each year.

If memory serves the infotainment is running version R25 right now (Different number if you have one of the cheaper variants if i remember it correctly).

If you want to manually update the maps, go to this website and enter your VIN, it will give you an option to download map data.

Unzip to a folder, plug in and start from the menu.

If it gives an error, please search on here for that message, the gist of it is, you then need to delete 2 specific files from the USB drive and it will work, but i dont remember what they are called, but if you search here for the error you receive there are threads, explaining what files to delete.

Thanks Hmadsen. I supposedly got my ota update after I did a hard reset of the car to try to solve a software issue caused by the body shop where my car had warranty work carried out to its paintwork. This map update was waiting for me the next day. So at that point my car was running the same R25 software that you have. I now don't think it was an ota update but just a re-initialisation of the software it came out of the factory with. Although the car did say clearly that this was an update, which it appeared to be installing.

However, my software is now the very latest R27 software which opened up every bit of the car to updates that with the R25 package the car could not see. These updates were significant according to my dealer. But clearly not the latest maps!

Like you I tend to use Android Auto but I will update the cars maps in due course just for good measure. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

The R27 nust be pretty new, a quick search on this forum reveals that no one other than you has mentioned it in the ZS EV forum.

I do see mentions of it in the MG4 section, from December 2024, so maybe they only just released it for the ZS EV after I took delivery.

In any case my ZS EV have not received the R27 via OTA as of now atleast.

Will "plug" it onto our wifi when the car returns and see if that makes any difference.

But yeah, maybe they installed R27 and just did not get let it reboot and what you saw was the same as when I update my Android phone...After it finishes it restarts and when it boots up it says "The OS has now been updated".

Would be interesting to know what new stuff is in R27, compared to R25.

I bet it's nothing groundbreaking though :)

Yes, I just don't know when the R27 came out for our cars but it's pretty new so I'm told by the tech that sorted my car. My car also came with the R25. But it's the other module updates to the car that came with it that interest me. R25 cannot see the other updates apparently. So it won't be until you get R27 that you'll get those. I suspect they are mostly aimed at making everything more robust or correcting very minor background issues.

Interestingly, there was no enhancement to allow charging at Tesla super chargers that are open to other makes of car but that's because our cars apparently should already have that enhancement. Have you tried charging at a Tesla charger yet?
