Been trawling through for info on how to update maps in my new vehicle. Naviextras seems the consensus, but for one they don't have an app that works on Mac and second their instructions seem out of date for the cars operating system.

Anyone had any luck updating the newest OS with maps?

Edit: Have since found the Mac version...but still no further forward in how you create the fingerprint.

Edited post now the link is there. Benutzerhandbücher (User hand book) and is the download link for the user handbook map updates etc.
How does it work, you download it to USB stick and plug it in the car somewhere?
Anyone tried it?

Download the zip file from the MG website. Uncompress to a USB stick of at least 32 GByte. Plug it into the USB A socket under the Infotainment display Go to settings map update.

Thanks for sharing. I'll have a look but scared to mess up something ... Is there any explanation why it's available in Germany and not here? Is it the same software regardless of the country?

Will the update apply autobahn speed limits ???

Worked a treat, now have 2023 Q4 Maps.

Thanks

I did have to delete the 2 additional files to get the car to read map update file.

But all sweet.

Warning!!! It took 4 hours to download map update to PC and 3 hours to copy update to USB, (that's probably dependent on your internet speed) and approx 30 mins to update maps in car.

Can you elaborate on which files you had to remove? My ZS EV also fails on the MD5 checksum error.

Thanks for all the info Roldorf: If you get to Kent in UK, contact me for a free charge up !!

mgmotor.eu sends me to my country's website. Look up the manual with the VIN and you will also get the option to download the map update.

If you have an old map version you will get the MD5 error, I deleted the following files from the folder: file_verification and VN.txt.

Thanks for your input I. I tried a number of times to update my maps following their guide . Downloaded a few times and grew a fine beard in meantime 😉.None worked until I deleted those two files you mentioned. Worked a treat 👍.
You'd think that MG would advise that ...but then again

It's not MG map, it's a third party company that MG contracted, from memory (when I was updating my maps) I think they are in Germany...

It clearly states in the instructions to copy the MAP directory to the USB.
