MG ZS EV - 2024 - Map updates

You will need to paste your Vin Number in the Farzeugidentifikationsnum then click on herunterladen on Kartenupdate Q3 2023 for your model comfort or luxury and follow the instructions "in english".
I typed in my VIN number (checked it many times) and it says "No results found"
How do I get the update if it won't recognise my car (2024 ZS EV)?
Actually, probably not worth it since the ones to download are already 18 months out of date anyway. I don't hold out much hope of them ever being updated tbh.

I understand. But it doesn't tell you to delete the two files which is the only way I could get it to work .
If you copy only the "MAPS DIRECTORY" then there are no other files to delete from the USB.

Looks like you have the wrong VIN number.

Then why did I have to delete the 2 files mentioned earlier from the map folder to get the update to work ? I tried it 3 times with the map folder untouched an had the checksum error message

My experience, together with info from multiple threads here:
1. Apple computer did not work for upgrading at all, I borrowed a friends PC and the upgrade worked.
2. The type of format of the USB stick matters (can't remember which but check threads).

Just to reply, i have entered my VIN more than once to see if the Q3 2023 maps were updated, but in the last few days i have also gotten the "No result found" and i even tried copy pasting it and finding a VIN of another ZS EV with the same result.

I think that the site is either down or they are updating it.

Same result as for Chris H and hmadsen :
On 8/03/25, I successfully downloaded the big file from the mg website with VIN number, but it was the same 2 years old database file.
I just tried today with the same VIN, but now the answer : No result found.

Before, in France when you used the commercial web site , you could get quickly an answer by chatting with a human being. And now it's a machine wich answer to you : please go to your MG dealer ...

Hello
I succesfully downloaded the map definition file from this site today :
However it is the same 2 years old database file (18.440.233 KBytes)
Congratulations! You are still in 2023! 😂.
Honestly, not worth the hassle trying to update maps, they will never be as good as Google or Waze...

I suppose it's better than my used ZS EV that the dealer told me would take 4 days to " prepare " . When I checked the maps they were 2021 . I wonder what took them 4 days to "prepare "🤔

Yeah when we ordered our ZS EV i was told it would take a day because they would have to have their computer hooked up to the car to update every electronic module in the car, including the navigation maps.

When i got it, it offcourse had 2022 maps that i had to update to the latest 2023 maps myself.

Just hoping they atleast actually updated all the car computers software as well.

As far as I remember , we should have received the map update free of charge for 5 years from the date of purchase ???
I've found this, but the only thing free is their software, not the maps : MG Motor
Well there is nuance and this is very relevant when dealing with chinese manufacturers.

They say "5 years of free map updates"......

BUT...They never said anything about update frequency, so technically, even if they never release another update that is newer than the current latest 2023 they did not break the agreement.

That's how the Chinese do "business"

They also had a feature for the connect variant "Infotainment can be updated OTA"

Again......Can, does not mean WILL.

They don't really lie, they just deceive

They signed up with Naviextras, Hungarian company, to provide 5 years of updates.

Is that the same for both first and second gen MG ZS EV.

The first gen, their website says to go to naviextra's webpage, but the second gen is a download link on their own website.

The latest files for the second gen is called Q32023, which seems pretty outdated

Judging from a folder name in the second gen files "TelenavMapData" the maps for the second gen comes from an american company called "telenav" rather than naviextra.

If MG has a similar deal with telenav, i dont understand why there are not more frequent updates, right now it seems like there was an initial 2022, then the latest 2023, but we are now in Q2 2025 without further updates.

I wonder if this is because MG is doing these updates on a "per order" payment and they havent ordered any updates after Q4 2023.

Other onboard navigation systems i know of, has had atleast 1 per year so now we are talking atleast 1½ years since last update and no sign of a new version. (My Tesla even gets atleast 2 a year).

I don't know, to be honest. I updated mine last year on my 2022 Trophy and decided not to bother any more. Using Google maps on AA instead. Always up to date and live traffic. With all of my previous cars, I never wanted the inbuilt navigation system exactly for that reason - never up to date and in most cases you have to pay for all updates - no thanks!

Yeah i agree, its crazy paying extra for satnav, just to have to pay £100 a year for updates.

I would still update the satnav even though we dont use it, i also have an offline satnav on my phone from back when it cost a lot to do dataroaming abroad.

I like options
