MG ZS EV Facelift - Have you cancelled?

Yes we have. We gave it a lot of thought over the last week or so and decided to hold on to our pug for a while longer.

Contacted the dealer by email on Saturday and waiting for a reply. If not heard by close of play Wednesday I will chivvy them up.
All good with Luscombe's, very helpful and returned deposit no problems. I would highly recommend them.

Alas, no need to be here now, if things change in the future I may be back.

All the best everyone and enjoy your new car(s) whenever they may arrive. 🚗

Ciao

Ordered a different car a week ago and will cancel the MG soon...

Surprised this morning to receive an email from the manufacturer (not the dealer) thanking me for the order and giving me contact details if I need any information or updates whilst I wait for my new car. Also a link to an app where I can: "access all your vehicle details, route planning, maintenance reminders and much more."

MG really need to sort out their communication and order system (orders not delivered in chronological order etc.).

I think one has to accept that a budget car is backed by budget organisation. Having said that if I think back I’ve had many expensive cars over the years with hopeless dealers and manufacturers.

How much extra did you pay to watch your new car on an app before it's delivered? 😉

What different marque you gone for?

Dacia Jogger. The much much cheaper price tempted me and also the ability to genuinely handle family trips like camping, kids bikes in boot, airport run, etc. Warranty isnt as long as MG but £400 to upgrade it to 6 years 60k miles. Spec is very good, I like the rotating roof rails with 80 kg load limit. Will be my first fossil since 2015.

I placed my ZS EV order with Budgen MG Shrewsbury in December 2021 and I am still waiting for the order confirmation and deposit receipt some five months later. I placed numerous phone calls and emails to them this month requesting the paperwork all of which have been ignored.

I did however get a notificiation advising delivery would slip from May to December 2022.

I have never received such poor customer service when ordering a new vehicle and Budgen MG does not deserve my business therefore today my order has been cancelled.

As for my deposit of £99, I am sure the staff will have a few drinks on me tonight even though I asked them to donate to the Unicef Ukraine appeal.

Sharks!

What did they say when you visited in person??

I visited three times and each time was fobbed off by a sales advising that they were not part of the MG team and therefore had to refer my order to MG Sales manager who was not available. Obviously they had more important tasks to do than retain an order. I've called today and been promised a call back by the Citreon sales manager and you've guessed it, no call..... I've emailed the operations director and guess what..... No reply....

Unfortunately I know someone who works for Budgen and they describe their operation at best as shambolic.

Enough said..... Use Budgen Shrewsbury/Telford at your peril!

Shop around. The story from the MG dealers that we all believed, that all manufacturers have the same issues and a 12+ month lead time awaits, if we cancel and loose our place in the queue, is BS. There may not be many but there are cars with shorter lead times.

I think they're in a mess worse than most: no fossil orders, stopped new mg5 orders, hardly any ZS EV orders fulfilled.. ☹️

E.g. 14-21 day delivery on a lease Kona: Hyundai Kona Electric Hatchback 100kW SE Connect 39kWh 5 Doors Auto Lease Deal | Vanarama

My fossil ordered 8 days ago, now matched to a vehicle scheduled for production, leaving the factory middle of next month.

Not sure the GT Line models are affected ?.
I though it was the baseline model only.
Could be totally wrong of course 🤷‍♂️.
GT Line has AEB, but none of the Zoe 50 models have side airbags. We returned our Zoe 50 for a full refund. Shame as it was a great little car, but on the basis that we have three separate vehicles impacted by a total of four breakdown faults within a six week period I said enough & requested a refund. A good solid little car, but alas something was amis in the batch of electrical gubbins that these cars were built from. We particularly liked the charger and it’s ability to charge at 22kW free of charge at Tesco! Our replacement? A pre-reg C1 and a bunch of Tesla shares with the balance. I will go electric again when something takes my fancy.

I can confirm our ZE50 has got side airbags in the seats. Loving it so far. Genuine 200 miles at 70mph achieved this weekend with ac on.

There are cars out there, but they are all considerably more ex0ensive for the range you get with the ZS long range

Well I took decisive action last week and cancelled, and it somehow feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders (or should that be a huge wait ?? :ROFLMAO:).

In a Jam Jar, I've had enough of MG. I have come to the conclusion that I do not actually need the only things the ZS EV can offer over and above what I already have, namely the additional range and a dog friendly boot. And I would miss out on so much more by ditching my very capable Citroen e-C4
The MG would cost more to run as well - I went on a 47 mile round trip yesterday and got 4.5 motorway miles/kWh in normal mode with A/C on and set to 21°. I can't see the MG achieving that sort of figure under the same conditions.

Things that I would miss if I parted company with my Citroen;

1) Heated Steering Wheel
It is surprising how useful it is, especially if you haven't pre-conditioned on a cold morning.

2) The keyless entry and exit
Exiting the vehicle and simply walking away without wondering if you had 'locked' the car is just super convenient. The confirmatory 'beep beep' leaves me with no doubt that the car has locked itself. Of course there are some that might be concerned about keyless thefts, but those sort of attacks can be mitigated.

3) Extremely comfortable ride
Goes without saying, the Citroen is renowned for it's comfort.

4) ACC with Lane Following that actually works.
There is some concern that the MG's ability to centre between the lines under "MG Pilot" is not up to scratch. I was only offered a 20 minute test drive which I deemed inadequate in order to try the system for myself, but in the end the dealer failed to call me back when "the car is here", apparently absent because "the boss drives around in it". That was a month ago.
Add into the mix the lack of regen whilst using ACC and you have an engineering fail right there!

5) High resolution cameras.
Although the MG would have given me true all-round vision with it's four cameras, they are surprisingly low resolution, which would irritate me to the max.

6) Forward lighting.
Whilst not 'matrix' headlamps, the LEDs fitted to the Citroen are excellent, including the additional lighting (aka the front fog lamps) that illuminate the direction of travel when turning at slow speed.

7) Auto-dipping rear-view mirror.
Trivial, I know, but it has been a fair few cars ago when I last didn't have one, and I would miss it.

8) Self parking.
I paid for this £350 option in order to gain the (somewhat of a con) 360° cameras, even though I was convinced that I would never use the self-parking feature. But I have since come to find it very handy when parallel parking in dark, wet conditions where visibility via mirror or cameras is very poor.

9) Dealer network.
I have got to say that although the supplying dealer for my Citroen is not the best, my nearest Citroen service centre (no new car sales) has so far proven to be outstanding.
The MG dealer with whom I had placed my order had not initiated contact with me at all since last November, not even to advise me that the February delivery date had slipped, let alone any delays beyond that. And of course they failed to deliver on the test drive as mentioned above.
The next closest MG dealer that I approached prior to placing my order had promised to call me when their demonstrators arrived. But nope, they obviously couldn't be bothered either.

Overall, I have been having nagging doubts about buying a vehicle (this was an outright purchase) from a company that seems to have little regard for it's dealer network, and by extension their paying customers. I have not read good things about parts supply, either.

That might be a cynical view, but different people will have different opinions, and for me, it's just not a very good one.

So if anyone is waiting on a Pearl Black Trophy Connect, you might have just been bumped up the queue one place.
Hi Cosmic, when you cancelled did you lose your full deposit?

It was last November that I started the thread MG ZS EV Facelift - Have you ordered?

Now, after a very long tether (which I am now at the end of), I need to ask, "Has anyone cancelled?"
If so, how did that go? Any problems getting your deposit back?

Thanks.
No problem at all, delay was not my fault, not sure if you change your mind.
