I guess it's somewhere in-between, if you use ODB2 and don't mess up anything, all good.... if you use it and mess up something fairly biggish, they would surely charge you to fix it and I'm sure that could invalidate your warranty

But, deny all knowledge of it, they couldn't prove you had been connected to the ODBII socket, they would have quite a problem. The socket is provided as a legal requirement of maintenance and fault finding etc, if they leave some deeper technical settings open to access, that's their problem IMHO.

Did your dealer actually replace the 12V battery?

They say they did, but I don't trust them. I refuse to drive the car.
