I want to get a UK MG ZS EV owners-only snapshot of overall satisfaction with MG, based on the whole experience:
  • The car itself (build quality, reliability, software and updates) - largely SAIC (China)
  • MG UK (customer support, parts and warranty handling where applicable)
  • Your dealer(s) (sales experience, delivery issues, service department, warranty work and communication)
Please vote for the ONE option that best reflects your overall experience so far.

How to choose an option:
  • Very satisfied / Satisfied: You would happily buy MG again based on your experience
  • Neutral: Some positives and negatives, but it averages out
  • Dissatisfied / Very dissatisfied: Issues or poor support have left you unhappy with the brand
If you want to add context, please reply with:
  • Model year and trim
  • Rough mileage
  • Main issues (if any)
  • Whether problems were resolved and by who (SAIC/software, MG UK, or dealer)
This is not about one-off niggles - it’s about overall brand satisfaction based on the combined ownership and support experience.

Trophy LR connect. In the three and half years of ownership I did not have any issues and the milage is approx 13k. The wife has it now and loves it as I bought an S5 without a test drive because I thought the ZS was a brilliant car and the price of less than 24k for the S5 was a no brainer. The S5 is also a fantastic car and better than the ZS. Win win in my opinion.

Trophy LR, 39 months old, 23k miles. Dealership I bought from was closed within a year - not big enough for MG. Subsequent dealers were not really interested in updates, only servicing.
The HV battery locked out when the car was not 3 years old, due to internal module failure, and the vehicle was at a dealers for three months before it was repaired. MG UK were very unhelpful, put everything back onto the dealer, who were themselves indifferent to how long it was taking to source a technician to repair the battery. No courtesy car for the whole period that the vehicle was off the road.
I love the car, but MG UK and the lack of dealer support means that I won't be buying another one.

ZS LR. 3 years ownership. Great value for the money. I like the car and it ticks most of the boxes I need for a car. Love the sky roof, it makes the interior lighter and is great in the sunny weather. Rear suspension springs went in the first year, replaced under warranty.

The local dealership is a rip off, but found an excellent dealer 30 miles away.

ZS Trophy LR 2022 55k miles no problems only normal servicing.
Also owned a 2020 ZS Exclusive 45k miles no problems only normal servicing.
2025 MG S5 Trophy 6k miles No problems.
I also owned 2 MG GS petrols 100k on both which only needed normal servicing and 2 abs wheel sensors under warranty.

ZS EV Trophy LR, registered May 23. Low mileage, 9000ish. On the whole very happy with the car, comfortable low cost motoring with mostly home charging. Great value low mileage maintenance contract with Glyn Hopkin who have fixed a couple of things under the warranty. They don't appear to do much at the annual service (perhaps linked with the low cost of the contract?) and haven't done all of the things ticked on the service checklist e.g. cleaning and lubricating sunroof mechanism. Nor have they done any software updates. Also, long wait for any diagnostic appointment, fortunately I've only needed one when a series of alarms/warnings turned out to be a defective relay which was fixed under the warranty.

MG ZS EV TLR 2023
  • The car itself (build quality - fine, but bonnet can dent just by looking at it,
  • MG UK (customer support, parts and warranty handling where applicable) - No issues, when my dear wife had a RTI parts where readily available (not repaired by MG Dealer)
  • Your dealer(s) (sales experience, delivery issues, service department, warranty work and communication) MG Beaconsfield, 3rd annual service coming up this June, both previous services be faultless.

Very happy, other than there is no VU protection on glass, and plastic seat covering are hell in high summer. Finally less happy that newer, better finished models are now less expensive. But that life!!

2025 Trophy connect Long Range
Mileage 8k.

I wont buy another MG.

Whilst the car is great the infotainment is hard work especially the inability to scroll through favourite radio stations .

But I have had a T box warranty issue for 5 now going on 6 months. The car has been into the dealer 6 times. This last time it has and is sat there since 9 weeks.

MG UK won't let me reject the car as they have a technical ticket with China open on it but nothing has been done for 10 days. MG UK blames the dealer , the dealer blames MG.

I am taking it to the Motor Ombudsman on Tuesday after a 2 week notice period is past and I am in contact with the press local and national to see if they want my tale of woe.

My advice if you are thinking of buying MG is don't.
