They might not think to look here, but here's hoping.
I will get this sorted, and I can start emailing people and phoning landlines to get them to send me texts to repopulate the contacts list. I didn't have any photos on the phone I wanted - I usually use my camera in preference to the phone. (And at least when that dies, everything is on its memory card!) I have been through similar in the past, stressful, but it always gets fixed enough to move on.
One nice thing, looking at the specs page @siteguru linked to. The phone is supposed to be water-resistant to some extent. The shop said my phone died because water had got into it somehow. I have also had two cameras die on me from the same cause. (Although in 2011 I managed to dry my first smartphone out after it went through the washing machine. I just put it on a radiator all night, and it was fine!) It will be nice if this phone can cope with a shower of rain. It may need to, what with all these uncovered chargers.
