Watching this thread with interest, have a Trophy on order but previously have always driven older motors with the paint-swirls helpfully pre-applied! Going to try and take care of this one, the two-bucket wash method is a pretty good place to start for true newbies like myself before taking it up a notch - lots of vids on Youtube and similar.

Am I the only one who doesn't want water to bead on my car ?
I find beading causes spots, I prefer the water to sheet off.

I don’t think it’s a case of one being better than the other, two sides of the same coin. I don’t get water spots unless we are getting that Sahara rain again. They can both be indicators of well protected paint though not necessarily eg you could slather your car in sun tan oil and get good beading or sheeting but that doesn’t mean you have good protection.

Right matey. My wife is luckily in a very good mood. She gave me her best pair of tights to empty the old resin out (you’ll understand the first time you change yours) and having ruined those, the unit is now empty and clean. Despite the tight ruining, Mrs Crawfyp is still talking to me and can post to you from her business for £5. That makes it £40 delivered. If it's causing spots, most likely limescale.

I've used Autoglym products for years but I've heard good things about Maguires. Is there much of a difference?
Also I have just finished my Autoglym Fast Glass, any recommendations for a replacement.
Second recommendation request, the council have a knarled old Maytree on the verge by our drive and both my car and the Missus car are covered by I spots of something that I assume is from the Maytree, so either something to remove the Sap or something to make the tree "go to sleep" ?

For putting the May tree to sleep have you tried one of these?

My “go to” glass cleaner is RainX 2 in 1 cleaner and Repellent. But I also use Turtle Wax Mist Glass Cleaner and Clearview from Autobrite.

Meguirs Perfect Clarity on order now. Thanks for the suggestion, amazon a few quid cheaper than ABD where I normally buy cleaning stuff.

Chainsaw not quite as subtle as I was aiming for, would be 100% effective. Also shouldn't it be a battery powered one for this forum?

@Tweed98 If you have a local store close by, that sell’s plastic cladding / windows / guttering / sealants etc.
Then these people then to sell glass cleaner to the trade.
It comes in large 1 litre spray bottles and is much less expensive than the motoring glass cleaner sprays you can buy.
I know a couple of detailers that use this type of product on a regular basis and are happy with the results.
Of course it can be used for cleaning glass items in the home as well.
He is the brand that I use from a local supplier.

Spray glass cleaner, used for both inside & outside glass surfaces.
We also have an additional tint film applied on the inside of the glass and it’s fine.
One micro fibre cloth to clean the glass after applying the spray, then a second micro fibre cloth to finish polishing the glass.

RainX for the exterior for me too.
Just use ‘whatever’ for the interior, most usually autoglym (I’ve been gifted umpteen autoglym bags of stuff from neighbours and friends)

I switched to Waffle Weave Towels for glass some years ago. I wouldn't go back to micro fibres now for glass, waffle weave so much better. I use Invisible Glass for cleaning inside and out and I use Rain X Rain Repellent on all outside glass except the front windscreen (first few days is fine on front screen but you soon get wiper "chatter" as it starts to wear off)

I also now use waffle weave glass cloths.
Although I've just got some new deep pile microfibre drying towels for the bodywork I still follow up with the old waffle weave ones as I get a better finish with them.

I “Autoglymmed“ the car last night when it was cooler though I could have done it this morning as it is cool and cloudy here.

Just having a nightmare, Car went back to the dealer for a software update on the hottest day of the year and they washed it ! *** . Didn't notice till I got home. Does anyone know how to get etched water marks off the rear quarter panels and spoiler top. Tried re washing, 50/50 distilled water and white vinegar, polish. Nothing is shifting it. Emailed the dealer pictures etc they have gone very quiet .
