Sent them a question this morning asking which if any of their range could be used on an Xpower, got a fast reply:

"Currently working on the xpower. It will be out in roughly 2 weeks. The xpower has extra elements where the deep pocket falls. This part has to be excluded. Currently none of our frunks support this version. Keep an eye on is and it will be out soon."

Ouch it's a bit expensive, it'll be cheaper sending your frunk luggage ahead in an Uber. If they added significant storage I'd maybe buy it if it was more like £75 but how can a mid range android phone or TV cost less than an injection/blow moulded bit plastic

I'm not opposed to having this just to keep the granny charger in the car, but out of the way. Not sure it's really worth lugging that around though. Even though most "chargers" in the Wheatbelt around Perth are just 3-pin sockets, I doubt the granny charger would really give you any useful range in a reasonable time. The again, better to have something than nothing maybe?

I too at looking to create a model for a Front Boot/Trunk which will have a lid of sorts.
But I am looking to just store the "granny" charger and perhaps the tyre repair kits/stuff.
I am printing mine on an Anycubic Kobra 2 Max which has a print volume of 420 x 420 x 450 (all in mm). I am also printing in ABS which should handle the high temps we get here in Perth WA during the summer and expect it to take about a week of continuous printing and about 2 rolls of ABS.
You may ask why. Well its because I want my own design and want make it freely available to all to change to suit.

Well mine got delivered today from Ireland! I had already put gas struts in before receiving the frunk and lo and behold; the bonnet wouldn’t close…

Didn’t feel like paying for return shipping (and still wanting a frunk) I ended up cutting some corners with a plastic cutting disc and a rotary tool. Bit of sanding and quick pass with a gas torch, and she’s looking pretty good imo.

For now I’ve put my 7m (22 kWh so pretty thick) cable in, and the granny charger, which was the main item I wanted to get out of my boot.

I’d be interested to hear from other people with this frunk and if they had the same clearance issue with gas struts? Oh that reminds me, I also removed the original bonnet strut, as it wouldn’t click in place over the lip of the frunk. That was easily done by loosening both bolt on the clamp, then wiggling the rubber and metal rod out, and retightening the clamp.

Looking good. I'd be tempted to email the manufacturers about your modification and they might alter the shape of future frunks.

Just send him an email with some more in detail pictures and the measurements of my cuts. I hope he doesn't take offence to me cutting into his work, but in the end this worked out perfect for me and I guess after I pay it's mine to do with as I please right?

The photos on the website do show one MG4 with gas struts, but I wonder if they took that photo before they tried to close it, or perhaps my struts are somehow a couple of fatties. Other than that photo implying it should work, there is no mention of the frunk working with other mods, so I don't feel cheated or anything like that.

I've also installed what look like the same type of gas struts that ReintjeWA has, so I'm please to hear that ....

If you're happy to cut into the older model yourself like I have, he might sell you one of those at a discount? Might be worth asking.

Looking under my hood there is a lot of dust and dirt, does this get into the frunk at all?
Id want to keep the things in the frunk clean.
Would a soft sponge gasket around the frunk keep the dirt and dust out do you think?
Or what about a plastic top cover of some sort.

I’m under the impression the frunk seals against the bonnet liner, but I’ll see if I can verify this somehow today and get back to you

Update:
It seems the bonnet fits tightly against the upper edge of the trunk (closest to the windscreen) but I'm not quite convinced there is a tight seal with the bonnet liner on the lower edge. The case for my V2L adapter sticks out slightly above the edge of the frunk, and it leaves a small indentation in the liner, but not big enough to convince me the seal is tight. It hasn't gotten dusty yet inside the frunk, but I haven't had it for long and haven't driven it much on account of being home sick.

I'm not very ocd or particular so use the 'behind-the-front-seats-unk' comes at no additional cost and has substantial storage space, especially with the rear seats down
